Objective: To study the clinicopathological characteristics, immunohistochemical features and histogenesis of primary testicular carcinoid tumor and its differential diagnosis.
Methods: Light microscopy and immunohistochemical stains were performed in 4 cases of primary testicular carcinoid tumor.
Results: The patients sought care for scrotum mass presented from 2 to 36 years, 2 cases accompanied with tender swelling of the testis.

Background: Stricture formation in Crohn's disease (CD) occurs as a result of persistent intestinal inflammatory activation, which leads to enhanced adhesion molecule expression in serosal fibroblasts (SFs). Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) has anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties. Treatment with VIP prevents experimental CD in animal models at the clinical and pathologic levels.

Aim: To examine the inhibitive effects of triptolide on the expression of IL-8, monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP)-1, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-3 in subepithelial myofibroblasts (SEMF) stimulated with IL-1beta.
Methods: SEMF cultures were established from normal colons in patients who underwent gut resection for colorectal carcinoma. Chemokine and MMP-3 expressions were determined by ELISA and RT-PCR.

Objective: To investigate the expression of gene BRG1 in prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and adenocarcinoma, and the relationship between gene BRG1 expression and the clinicopathological features of prostate carcinoma.
Methods: Gene BRG1 expression was evaluated in 37 cases of human prostate carcinoma, 13 human prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) and 14 human benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) by using immunohistochemistry (EnVision method) and tissue microarray.
Results: The positive rates of BRG1 protein were 81.

Methods: The rehabilitation therapy included enteral or parenteral nutrition, glutamine, recombinant human growth hormone and rehabilitative diet. From January 1997 to July 2000, twenty - seven patients with short bowel syndrome received the treatment.
