Large-vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke is a promising field for the use of AI, especially machine learning (ML) because optimal results are highly dependent on timely diagnosis, communication, and treatment. In order to better understand the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) in relation to LVO strokes, its efficacy, and potential future applications, we searched relevant literature to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the topic. The databases PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were extensively searched for this review.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the link between perinatal asphyxia and the occurrence of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in newborns, aiming to identify how often AKI happens in cases of birth asphyxia and the eventual outcomes for those affected.
  • Conducted over six months, the research included 111 newborns who experienced birth asphyxia but excluded those with known factors that could also cause AKI, such as maternal health issues or congenital anomalies.
  • Results revealed that 18.02% of the newborns developed AKI, with only 35% recovering completely, while 65% of the affected infants ultimately died.

Introduction: The e-aluating the nhibition of tress rosions (REVISE) Trial aims to determine the impact of the proton pump inhibitor pantoprazole compared with placebo on clinically important upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in the intensive care unit (ICU), 90-day mortality and other endpoints in critically ill adults. The objective of this report is to describe the rationale, methodology, ethics and management of REVISE.

Methods And Analysis: REVISE is an international, randomised, concealed, stratified, blinded parallel-group individual patient trial being conducted in ICUs in Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, UK, US, Kuwait, Pakistan and Brazil.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction is a complex clinical syndrome associated with a high level of morbidity and mortality, constituting 56% of heart failure cases and showing an increasing prevalence. The E/Ea ratio, used for echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular (LV) filling pressure, has been commonly recommended as a noninvasive measure. However, its validity lacks robust prospective validation in patients with preserved LV ejection fraction, and its accuracy has been questioned in comparison to patients with reduced LV ejection fraction.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted in Pakistan to compare the effectiveness of nebulized ipratropium bromide and 3% hypertonic saline in treating children with acute bronchiolitis.
  • The research involved 100 children and measured outcomes like respiratory rate, heart rate, and hospital stay length following treatment.
  • Results showed that hypertonic saline led to better symptom improvement, shorter hospital stays (2.63 days vs. 3.82 days), and fewer hospital admissions (22% vs. 44%) compared to ipratropium bromide.
