Extensive evidence suggests a correlation between environmental pollutants, specifically perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This study aims to investigate the association and underlying mechanisms of PFAS-induced NAFLD in adolescents by employing a comprehensive approach of population-based studies, toxicogenomics, and animal models. A total of 2014 freshmen from Dali University were recruited for this study, with 1694 participants undergoing serum testing for PFAS exposure.

Background: Cachexia is a leading cause of death among individuals with advanced cancer, yet effective pharmacological treatments are lacking. In this single-center retrospective study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of tocilizumab for the treatment of cancer cachexia accompanied by systemic hyperinflammation.
Methods: Data were collected from 20 patients treated with tocilizumab and a control group of 20 patients matched for age, sex, and comorbidities.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metastatic liver tumors (MLT) are the most common malignant liver lesions, each requiring distinct therapeutic approaches. Accurate differentiation between these malignancies is critical for appropriate treatment planning and prognostication. However, there is limited data on the performance of contrast-enhanced ultrasound liver imaging reporting and data system (CEUS-LI-RADS) in this differentiation.

mutations are common in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and are associated with patient prognosis; however, targeting has faced various difficulties. Currently, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and chemoimmunotherapy play pivotal roles in the first-line treatment of -mutated NSCLC. Here, we summarize the current evidence on first-line therapies and compare the treatment outcomes and biomarkers for different regimens.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for both primary and recurrent early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to analyze the significant prognostic factors.
Patients And Methods: Data from patients with early-stage primary or recurrent HCC who underwent TACE plus RFA between August 2019 and May 2024 were collected from three major general hospitals. 158 patients were divided into a primary group and a recurrent group on the basis of their baseline characteristics.

Background: There is currently no widely accepted prognostic model specifically for elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) undergoing radiotherapy. This study aimed to develop a nomogram incorporating metabolic imaging parameters from F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) to predict overall survival (OS) in this patient population. The clinical need for such a prediction model is significant given the challenges of treatment planning in elderly patients with ESCC undergoing radiotherapy.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) represents a considerable health challenge, primarily due to its poor prognosis and the limited availability of effective therapeutic interventions. Ubiquitination, a vital post-translational modification, is integral to cellular regulation; nonetheless, its role in ESCC has not been thoroughly explored. This study aims to identify ubiquitination-related differentially expressed genes (URDEGs) that possess prognostic significance in the context of ESCC.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the advantage of three-dimensional liver acquisition with volume acceleration-flexible (3D LAVA_Flex) for perineural spread (PNS) status of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in comparison with two-dimensional magnetic resonance sequences.
Materials And Methods: Sixty pathological proved NPC patients were prospective enrolled. A protocol included T2-weighted imaging with fat suppression (T2WI fs), T1-weighted imaging (T1WI) without and with contrast enhancement (T1WI ce), and 3D LAVA_Flex was applied for the recruited subject.

Background: Despite advancements with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), about 10 % of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients remain resistant to radiotherapy, leading to recurrence and poor prognosis. This study aims to identify radiosensitivity-related genes in NPC and develop a prognostic model to predict patient outcomes.
Methods: We analyzed 179 NPC samples from Fujian Cancer Hospital using RNA sequencing.

Background: To report long-term results of cervical node-positive (CLN+) nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients treated with IMRT with one-step nodal clinical target volume (CTVn) delineation by geometric-anatomic expansion from the nodal gross target volume (GTVn).
Materials: CLN+ NPC treated with the same one-step-CTVn delineation in two Chinese academic centers were pooled for this study. GTVn was prescribed to 70 Gy equivalent, CTVn1 was omitted, CTVn2 was prescribed to 45-55 Gy equivalent and defined as GTVn + 3 mm geometric expansion (5 mm if radiological extranodal extension-positive, rENE+) + elective nodal regions defined by anatomic boundary of cervical nodal levels.

Background: Minimally invasive surgeries are increasingly central to modern medicine, particularly in liver transplantation. These techniques, which offer reduced trauma, precise operations, minimal bleeding, and swift recovery, are, however, unevenly adopted across China. Only a limited number of centers routinely perform minimally invasive donor hepatectomies, indicating a significant imbalance in the development and application of these advanced procedures.

The evidence that intratumoral microbiomes, as a rising hallmark of cancer, have a profound impact on cancer phenotypes is increasingly compelling. However, the impact of the composition and diversity of the intratumoral microbiome on the prognosis of patients undergoing surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains incompletely understood. In this study, we revealed a high abundance of bacteria in the neoplastic tissues.

The outcome of patients with recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer (R/M CC) is poor, with a 5-year survival rate of only 10%-20%. Recent advances in immunotherapy renewed its interest in R/M CC treatment. It has been suggested that cadonilimab, a novel bispecific antibody targeting programmed death 1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4), significantly improved the survival outcomes of the R/M CC.

Background: Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) impact cancer outcomes, including in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), where their role in immune modulation during neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) is underexplored.
Methods: This study employed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) staining, and radiomic techniques to evaluate TLSs and the tumour microenvironment (TME) in TNBC patient samples before and after NAT.
Results: The presence of TLSs in TNBC was associated with B-cell maturation and T-cell activation.

Background: Breast cancer (BRCA) is the most prevalent type of cancer worldwide. As a highly heterogeneous cancer, it has a high recurrence rate. Since its biological behavior can be regulated by immunity and cuprotosis, so exploring potential therapeutic target to mediate immunity and cuprotosis is of great significance for BRCA therapy.

Introduction: The majority of liver cancer cases (90%) are attributed to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which exhibits significant heterogeneity and an unfavorable prognosis. Modulating the immune response and metabolic processes play a crucial role in both the prevention and treatment of HCC. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the immune-related metabolic genes that can accurately reflect the prognosis of HCC.
