Clin Breast Cancer

November 2024

Shenzhen Clinical Medical School of Southern Medical University, Shenzhen, China; Department of Oncology, Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University, Guangdong, Shenzhen, China. Electronic address:

Objective: To explore the correlation between heart rate variability (HRV), peripheral cytokines, anxiety and pain scores in patients with breast cancer (BC).

Methods: We collected blood samples from 100 BC patients and measured the concentrations of Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 4 (IL-4) and Interferon gamma (IFN-γ). We collected the patients' 5-minute dynamic electrocardiograms and evaluated their anxiety and pain levels through the Anxiety Self-Rating Scale and the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) Scale.

Regeneration process of severed rabbit common calcanean tendons influenced by external compression.

J Orthop Surg Res

November 2024

Department of Orthopaedics, General Hospital of Central Theater Command, NO. 627, Wuluo Road, Hongshan District, Wuhan, Hubei Province, 430070, PR China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates how external compression affects the healing of ruptured Achilles tendons in rabbits by comparing a control group that received only immobilization to a group with added compression through a 3D-printed clasp.
  • After 4 weeks, the control group's tendons displayed better regeneration, while the compression group had more issues such as disorganized collagen and larger adhesion.
  • The findings suggest that although the tendon can regenerate across a gap, applying excessive compression may hinder proper healing and quality tissue regeneration.

Electronic address:

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a unique subtype of breast cancer characterized by the lack of expression of the estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2. TNBC exhibits a high degree of aggressiveness, metastatic potential, and a poor prognosis. Despite the limited success of conventional treatments, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have emerged as promising therapeutics for TNBC.

Objective: Resilience is an important regulating factor for anxiety and depression in breast cancer. The Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) intervention has been confirmed to improve anxiety and depression in patients, but the role of resilience is still unclear. This study explores this issue.

Breast cancer is a grave traumatic experience that can profoundly compromise patients' psychological resilience, impacting their overall quality of life. The oxytocin system represents one of the essential neurobiological bases of psychological resilience and plays a critical role in regulating resilience in response to social or traumatic events during adulthood. Oxytocin, through its direct interaction with peripheral or central oxytocin receptors, has been found to have a significant impact on regulating social behavior.

Background: Breast cancer liver metastasis (BCLM) is a severe condition often resulting in early death. The identification of prognostic factors and the construction of accurate predictive models can guide clinical decision-making.

Methods: A large sample of data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was analyzed, including 3711 patients diagnosed with de novo BCLM between 2010 and 2015.

Objective: When the endoscopic Achilles tendon repair technique is utilized, direct stitching of the ruptured site is challenging due to the frayed tendon stumps. To explore whether undesirable coaptation of the tendon stumps influences the generation of the tendons.

Methods: This study is a retrospective analysis of 46 patients who underwent a modified endoscopic Achilles tendon rupture repair from October 2018 to June 2020.

Background: Retrograde drilling remains technically challenging, because of the difficulty of identifying the accurate location of cysts during surgery. This study's aim was to evaluate the 3-dimensional (3D) image-based surgical navigation-assisted endoscopic retrograde drilling technique for subchondral bone lesions of the talus.

Methods: From March 2017 to June 2020, a total of 21 cases with Hepple stage V subchondral bone lesions of the talus were treated with 3D image-based surgical navigation-assisted endoscopic retrograde drilling and bone graft technique.

Purpose: Surgical treatment of chronic ankle instability (CAI) typically includes ligament repair or reconstruction. Using preoperative ultrasonography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to choose an appropriate arthroscopic procedure is still difficult. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation of imaging studies with arthroscopic findings and support the arthroscopic surgical decision-making process.

Background: Chemotherapy related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is a type of memory and cognitive impairment induced by chemotherapy and has become a growing clinical problem. Breast cancer survivors (BCs) refer to patients from the moment of breast cancer diagnosis to the end of their lives. Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) is a convenient and easy-to-apply psychological intervention that has been proven to improve quality of life and alleviate CRCI in BCs.

Background: Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) and psychological distress are common psychological problems in breast cancer (BC) patients and ultimately affecting their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Heart rate variability (HRV) can reflect the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system. However, the pathways through which HRV influences between FCR and HRQoL are unclear.

In recent years, the application of targeted therapy has greatly improved the survival of NSCLC patients with known tumor mutations. However, the plasticity of tumor cells can drive them to transform into a phenotypic state that is no longer targeted by drugs. One of the mechanisms by which drug resistance occurs is the transformation from NSCLC to SCLC.

The COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2, which is extremely infectious. Numerous virologist suggestions and guidelines advised using P2/N95 masks, gloves, goggles, face-shields, and frocks or gowns as routine specific protective tools during airway management to protect healthcare personnel from infection (PPE). However, numerous imitation research has indicated that conventional PPE cannot adequately protect healthcare personnel.

Department of Orthopaedics, General Hospital of Central Theater Command (Wuhan General Hospital of Guangzhou Command, Previously), Wuhan, Hubei Province, P. R. China; The First Clinical Medical School of Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, P. R. China.

There are several studies about arthroscopic repair techniques for the lesion of the anterior talofibular ligament. However, the research concentrating on the avulsion of the talar insertion of the anterior talofibular ligament is very rare. Among 122 patients who suffered from recurrent ankle sprain and underwent arthroscopic anterior talofibular ligament repair from October 2016 to January 2019 in our hospital, 11 patients with an avulsion of the talar insertion of this ligament were diagnosed and then treated with the arthroscopic suture-bridge repair technique in the present study.
