Background: Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among women, with an increasing incidence each year. The subtypes of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer, classified as HER2-low and HER2-zero based on HER2 receptor expression, show differences in clinical characteristics, therapeutic approaches, and prognoses. Distinguishing between these subtypes is clinically valuable as it can impact treatment strategies, including the use of next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) targeting HER2-low tumors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the effectiveness of amide proton transfer-weighted (APT) imaging combined with serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) in determining the grading of cervical cancer in 63 patients with confirmed cervical SCC.
  • APT imaging showed strong reproducibility and indicated a significant increase in values across poorly to highly differentiated cancer groups, suggesting it might be a reliable tool for grading the cancer.
  • While SCC-Ag levels also correlated with cancer differentiation, significant differences were only found between certain groups, indicating APT imaging might be more effective for distinguishing between cancer grades.

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease that seriously jeopardizes human life and health. Some studies have shown that although Interleukin-4 (IL-4) acts as an anti-inflammatory factor, IL-4 levels are elevated when the disease occurs. This study focuses on exploring the relationship between IL and 4 concentrations in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and poor outcome in patients with aSAH.

Diesel inhalation poisoning represents a rare yet critical medical condition necessitating prompt medical attention due to its potential to induce severe respiratory distress and coagulation dysfunction. The present case study describes the distinctive clinical presentation of a male patient in his early 40s who experienced acute respiratory distress and manifested coagulation factor VII deficiency subsequent to unintentional inhalation of diesel oil during engine repair. The patient demonstrated symptoms including chest tightness and dyspnea, indicative of chemical aspiration pneumonia, alongside an unforeseen coagulation abnormality.

Article Synopsis
  • Preoperative prediction of lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) in cervical cancer is vital for improving patient outcomes, and this study evaluates the effectiveness of combining amide proton transfer (APT) imaging with serum CA125 levels.
  • The study included 80 cervical cancer patients, finding that the APT imaging had an AUC of 0.889 and CA125 levels had an AUC of 0.687 in predicting LVSI.
  • The combination of APT and CA125 showed high diagnostic efficacy, with a sensitivity of 82.7% and specificity of 100%, indicating that this method is a valuable tool for predicting LVSI preoperatively in this patient population.*

Purpose: Totally implanted venous access device are widely used for long-term chemotherapy in cancer patients. Previous studies have only focused on the analysis of complications associated with infusion port implantation, ignoring the causes of unsuccessful infusion port implantation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between body mass index (BMI) and the success rate of transaxillary intravenous port implantation in breast cancer patients.

Background: Serum concentration of soluble growth stimulation expressed gene 2 (sST2) appears to have prognostic value in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) by now. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sST2 concentration and outcome in patients with aSAH.

Methods: A total of 65 aSAH patients who met the inclusion criteria in the Neurosurgery Department of Jining No.

Background: In recent years, neoadjuvant immunotherapy (NAIT) has developed rapidly in patients with gastroesophageal junction cancer (GEJC). The suggested neoadjuvant treatment regimens for patients with GEJC may vary in light of the efficacy and safety results.

Methods: A search of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science was completed to locate studies examining the safety and effectiveness of NAIT for resectable GEJC.

Adequate oxygen supply is essential for maintaining the body's normal physiological function. In chronic inflammatory conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), insufficient oxygen reaching the intestine triggers the regulatory system in response to environmental changes. However, the pathogenesis of IBD is still under investigation.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) poses a significant challenge in modern medicine, with conventional treatments limited by efficacy and associated side effects, necessitating innovative therapeutic approaches. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have emerged as promising candidates for IBD treatment due to their immunomodulatory properties and regenerative potential. This thesis aims to explore and compare various sources of MSC and evaluate their efficacy in treating IBD.

This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the aging of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Gene expression profile GSE32719 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, including 14 young, 5 middle, and 8 old HSCs. Differential expression analysis, short time-series expression miner analysis, and weighted co-expression network analysis were conducted to screen for hub genes whose expression changed over time during HSC aging.

Aim: To evaluate the feasibility and image quality of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM) using gradient- and spin-echo (GRASE) in solitary pulmonary lesions (SPLs) compared to echo planar imaging (EPI) and turbo spin-echo (TSE) at 3 T.

Materials And Methods: Forty-two patients with SPLs underwent lung magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using TSE-IVIM, GRASE-IVIM, and EPI-IVIM at 3 T. Signal ratio (SR), contrast ratio (CR), and image distortion ratio (DR) of three sequences were compared.

Background: Schwannomas are uncommon tumors originating from Schwann cells, forming the neural sheath. They account for approximately 2%-6% of all mesenchymal tumors and are most commonly identified in peripheral nerve trunks, with rarity in the gastrointestinal tract. Among gastrointestinal locations, the stomach harbors the majority of nerve sheath tumors, while such occurrences in the sigmoid colon are exceptionally infrequent.

Rationale: Sarcomatoid hepatocellular carcinoma (SHC) is an uncommon variant of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), characterized by HCC features combined with sarcomatoid histology and manifestations. The simultaneous occurrence of HCC and hepatosarcomatoid carcinoma is infrequent. This report presents a distinctive instance of HCC coexisting with hepatic sarcomatoid carcinoma in a 56-year-old male.

Epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) are currently the first-line standard of care for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that harbor EGFR mutations. Nevertheless, resistance to EGFR-TKIs is inevitable. In recent years, although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly shifted the treatment paradigm in advanced NSCLC without driver mutation, clinical benefits of these agents are limited in patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC.
