We present the results of cytogenetic analysis in a brother and sister with ataxia telangiectasia (AT), one of whom had malignant T-cell lymphoma. In both children, cytogenetic analysis of phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-stimulated lymphocytes showed chromosomal instability and inv(7) in 10% of the cells examined. The malignant lymphoma was analyzed cytogenetically on slides obtained from short-term culture of the lymph node cells; 64 cells were analyzed.

We studied the long-term results of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of the subclavian artery in treating stenosis (43 patients) or occlusion (nine patients). In all 52 patients, the blood pressure before treatment in the arm on the involved side was at least 30 mm Hg lower than that in the opposite arm. Thirty-nine patients (75%) had symptoms of vertebrobasilar insufficiency (dizziness, blurred vision, ataxia).

Ingestion, digestion and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) of opsonized sheep red blood cells (SRBC), as effector functions of peripheral blood phagocytes, were studied in newborns, children, mature and aged adults. All tested functions changed non-synchronously during the lifetime. The ingestion was maximal in newborns, digestion in children and ADCC in mature adults.
