Background: Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX) is a common age-related ocular condition characterized by the accumulation of a fibrillar, pseudoexfoliative material on the anterior segment of the eye. This study aims to investigate the histopathological characteristics of pseudoexfoliative material within different ocular structures, including the eyelid, conjunctiva, and anterior lens capsule.
Methods: A total of 32 anterior lens capsules, 3 eyelid fragments, and 12 conjunctival specimens were obtained from patients clinically diagnosed with PEX during ocular surgeries at the Onioptic Hospital of Ophthalmology.

Background: Spaceflight-Associated Neuro-Ocular Syndrome (SANS) is a complex pathology threatening the health of astronauts, with incompletely understood causes and no current specific functional diagnostic or screening test. We investigated the use of the differential performance of the visual system (central vs. perimacular visual function) as a candidate marker of SANS-related pathology in a ground-based microgravity analogue.

The first purpose is to present the diagnosis and therapeutic approach in a patient with sterile endophthalmitis associated with triamcinolone acetonide injection. The secondary objective is to assess the incidence of this complication and to summarize the risk factors described in the literature. A 76-year-old male patient presented for painless, unilateral, decreased visual acuity, four days after cataract surgery and simultaneously intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection for diabetic macular edema in the right eye.

The present review aims to identify risk factors with predictive value for differentiating between pseudoexfoliation patients at risk of developing intra- or postoperative complications and those without operative risk during cataract surgery. The review protocol was registered at PROSPERO, registration no. CRD42023417721.

Odontogenic sinusitis is a well-known, but under-studied bacterial infection of the maxillary sinus that can extend to other sinuses, the orbit, or even the endocranium. We performed an observational retrospective study on the patients with odontogenic sinusitis treated in our hospital over a five-year period. We included patients over 18 years old diagnosed with odontogenic sinusitis and ocular complications and we excluded patients with ocular complications nonrelated to dental-originated sinusitis or patients with odontogenic sinusitis without orbital-ocular complications.

The aim of this report was to present a rare case of apparently unilateral Peters anomaly and describe the clinical characteristics, surgical approach, and visual prognosis. We presented the case of a 7-year-old female patient with posterior corneal defect due to kerato-lenticular adhesions along with anterior dislocation and opacification of the lens in the left eye and a history of post-traumatic evisceration of the right eye. Systemic associations included mental underdevelopment, left torticollis and scoliosis.

The current research approaches the retinal microvasculature of healthy volunteers (17 subjects), patients with diabetes mellitus without retinopathy (19 subjects), and of diabetic patients with nonproliferative (17 subjects) and proliferative (21 subjects) diabetic retinopathy, by using adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy and optical coherence ophthalmoscopy angiography. For each imaging technique, several vascular parameters have been calculated in order to achieve a comparative analysis of these imaging biomarkers between the four studied groups. The results suggest that diabetic patients with or without diabetic retinopathy prove signs of retinal arteriole structural alterations, mainly showed by altered values of wall to lumen ratio, calculated for the superior or inferior temporal branch of the central retinal artery, near the optic nerve head, and significant changes of the vascular density in the retinal superficial capillary plexus.

This study aims to identify clinical and therapeutic surgical particularities and postoperative complications encountered in children suffering from Down syndrome and congenital cataract, as well as the existence of a correlation with associated systemic anomalies. A retrospective interventional study that analyzes cases of congenital cataracts operated on a group of 14 children with Down syndrome, respectively on 26 eyes, was performed. The age of the children at the time of the surgery, the presence of associated ocular and systemic anomalies, the employed surgical technique, the frequency and the type of postoperative complications, were examined.

Unlabelled: This paper aims to discuss various therapeutical strategies (corneal cross-linking, amniotic membrane transplantation with or without autologous serum application, medical regenerative therapy) for treating ocular surface diseases according to medical indications, etiology, local and general status of the patient. Besides the evolution and treatment of the lesions induced by corneal foreign body, ocular burns, neurotrophic keratitis, pterygium removal, Mooren's ulcer, this paper also follows and evaluates the migration, stratification and development of corneal epithelium. Of course, the success of the treatment depended on the therapeutic approach, the cause of the disease, the status of the eye and the patients' compliance.

We report the case of a 46-year-old patient, medical doctor with a relapsing unilateral CRSC-Central Serous Chorioretinopathy who was treated after an initial medical therapy (oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, oral antihistamines, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - systemic and topical), with an oral aldosterone antagonist-Eplerenone (Inspra), resulted in significant anatomic and visual improvements. CRSC = Central Serous Chorioretinopathy, R.E.

The management of the ocular surface disease has changed dramatically over the years, with spectacular improvements of techniques, and of course, results. The amniotic membrane, used as a graft or as a substrate for the cultivation of limbal corneal cells has showed encouraging results.

The objective of this article is to present the case of a patient with a severe decrease of visual acuity that occurred after an apparently minor head injury. Following the investigations, the patient was diagnosed with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment that was triggered by a fall from the same level and which occurred on a background of lattice degeneration. In this case, a minor trauma caused a severe complication because the patient had a contributing factor for the complication.
