Introduction: As transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) indications expand, understanding the valve degeneration process and potential influencing biomarkers becomes increasingly important.
Aim: To investigate temporal changes in biomarker levels and their potential association with F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) and F-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) uptake, assessed using positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) studies as markers for native aortic annulus calcifications and early-stage TAVI valve degeneration.
Material And Methods: A total of 71 TAVI patients underwent blood sampling and transthoracic echocardiography at baseline (pre-TAVI) and 6, 12, 18, and 24 months after the procedure.

Common inflammatory ground links obesity, insulin resistance, and asthma. As recognition of their interplay, one worsening the natural course of the other, is recognised, questions remain about how to adequately address them altogether to improve clinical outcomes. The present manuscript sheds light on the problem, describing possible pathophysiological links, clinical views, and therapeutic challenges, raising questions about what remains to be done, and calling for multidisciplinary treatment of these patients to detect diseases early and adequately address them before they become full-blown and deteriorate their health and quality of life.

Objective: To explore the effects of oral semaglutide on glycaemic parameters, body weight, and satisfaction in the first recipient patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Slovenia, in a real-world clinical practice setting.
Methods: The first consecutive adult patients with type 2 diabetes who were eligible for oral semaglutide treatment were included in this prospective, open-label interventional study. Patients received increasing doses of oral semaglutide and were evaluated at inclusion, at 1 month, then 3-5 months after starting treatment.

Background: peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is identified late in diabetic patients because, in the majority of cases, it is associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, resulting in little or no symptoms, or symptoms that are completely neglected.
Methods: In this study were enrolled all patients over 18 years of age, with diabetes mellitus type II for more than a year with poor glycemic control, diagnosed with diabetic polyneuropathy admitted to the Diabetology Department, Emergency County Hospital of Targu Mures, Romania between January 2020 and March 2023. We divided the patients into two groups, based on the presence or absence of subclinical atherosclerosis in the lower limb, named "SA" and "non-SA".

Eating behavior and food-related decision making are among the most complex of the motivated behaviors, and understanding the neurobiology of eating behavior, and its developmental dynamics, is critical to advancing the nutritional sciences and public health. Recent advances from both human and animal studies are revealing that individual capacity to make health-promoting food decisions varies based on biological and physiological variation in the signaling pathways that regulate the homeostatic, hedonic, and executive functions; past developmental exposures and current life-stage; the food environment; and complications of chronic disease that reinforce the obese state. Eating rate drives increased calorie intake and represents an important opportunity to lower rates of food consumption and energy intake through product reformulation.

Male and female offspring of obese mothers are known to differ extensively in their metabolic adaptation and later development of complications. We investigate the sex-dependent responses in obese offspring mice with maternal obesity, focusing on changes in liver glucose and lipid metabolism. Here we show that maternal obesity prior to and during gestation leads to hepatic steatosis and inflammation in male offspring, while female offspring are protected.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) management has reached a point where not only optimal glycaemic control is necessary, but also additional interventions with proven cardiovascular risk reduction benefit. Subcutaneous semaglutide has been shown to provide cardiovascular protection, but its use may be limited by its injection formulation. To overcome this limitation, an oral semaglutide tablet has been developed, which could potentially be of the same value as its injection counterpart, but in a much wider group of patients with T2D, thereby allowing for broader cardiovascular risk reduction in this vulnerable patient population.

Purpose: The prevalence of CYP21A2 gene variants and genotype-phenotype correlations are variable among populations. The aim of this study was to characterize CYP21A2 gene variants in adult patients with classical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CCAH) from southern Poland and to analyze genotype-phenotype correlations.
Materials/methods: A total of 48 patients (30 women and 18 men) with CCAH were included in the study.
Objective: The prevalence of overweight and obesity among children has drastically increased during the last decades and maternal obesity has been demonstrated as one of the ultimate factors. Nutrition-stimulated transgenerational regulation of key metabolic genes is fundamental to the developmental origins of the metabolic syndrome. Fetal nutrition may differently influence female and male offspring.
