Improvements in early screening, new diagnostic techniques, and surgical treatment have led to continuous downward trends in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) morbidity and mortality rates. However, high recurrence and refractory cancer after hepatectomy remain important factors affecting the long-term prognosis of HCC. The clinical characteristics and prognosis of recurrent HCC are heterogeneous, and guidelines on treatment strategies for recurrent HCC are lacking.

In patients with hepatocellular carcinoma receiving transarterial chemoembolization, their combined clinical utility has not been fully explored. Herein, we purposed to determine the prognostic worthiness of systemic immune-inflammation index -albumin-bilirubin scores in patients receiving transarterial chemoembolization for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.

Background: Odor perception is highly dependent on respiration, however, the asynchronization between inspiration and odor delivery results in a decreased activation and hemodynamic response function (HRF) curve in olfactory functional MRI (fMRI). This study aimed to investigate the effect of a data post-processing method to minimize the asynchronization and consequently improve the olfactory activation and HRF curve and compare it between different TRs (3 s and 1 s).
New Method: A new data post-processing method of respiration correction based on olfactory perception was investigated.

Background: Diet and chronic inflammation might play a major role in the pathogenesis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). In addition, peripheral blood leukocyte telomere length (LTL) and mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn) might mediate the relationship between inflammation and MCI risk. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate whether inflammatory potential of diet assessed by dietary inflammatory index (DII), chronic inflammation, peripheral blood LTL, and mtDNAcn were associated with the risk of MCI.

Acute liver injury is a common and serious syndrome caused by multiple factors and unclear pathogenesis. If the injury persists, liver injury can lead to cirrhosis and liver failure and ultimately results in the development of liver cancer. Emerging evidence has indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the development of liver injury.

Background: Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) and Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) both showed good local efficacy in advanced or unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the effect of HAIC with TACE in patients with unresectable HCC.
Methods: Clinical trials, which were about HAIC or TACE in Patients with unresectable HCC, were identified by searching PubMed, Medline, and EMBASE from January 2010 to March 2022.

Background: Galectin-9 is a member of the galectin family and has been reported to have a tumor-promoting or antitumor effect in response to the immune microenvironment. However, the immunomodulatory effect of galectin-9 in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The antigen presentation and antitumor immune effects of galectin-9 in CRC were examined in this study.

Background: Several records have reported that single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the interleukin 10 (IL-10)-1082G/A locus affects the risk of acute lung injury/respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/RDS), but the exact association between them has not been elucidated.
Objective: This systematic review aims to elucidate the relationship between SNP at the IL-10-1082G/A locus and susceptibility to ALI/RDS by the method of meta-analysis, to identify the early warning indicators of ALI/RDS.
Methods: Studies on IL-10-1082G/A SNP associated with ALI/RDS were obtained by thorough retrieval of four English databases from each database construction to April 1, 2022.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has become one of the important means for advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma. So far, there is no effective index to predict the curative effect. To investigate the value of iodine map of dual-energy computed tomography (CT) in predicting the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for hypopharyngeal carcinoma.

Introduction: In our experiments, male wild-type mice were randomly divided into four groups: the sham, SAE, SAE + 2% hydrogen gas inhalation (H ), and SAE + hydrogen-rich water (HW) groups. The feces of the mice were collected for 16 S rDNA analysis 24 h after the models were established, and the serum and brain tissue of the mice were collected for nontargeted metabolomics analysis.
Aim: Destruction of the intestinal microbiota is a risk factor for sepsis and subsequent organ dysfunction, and up to 70% of severely ill patients with sepsis exhibit varying degrees of sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE).

Some long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), which harbor microRNAs in their gene sequence and are also known as microRNA host gene derived lncRNAs (lnc-MIRHGs), play a dominant role alongside miRNAs, or both perform biological functions synergistically or independently. However, only a small number of lnc-MIRHGs have been identified. Here, multiple liver injury datasets were analyzed to screen and identify the target lncRNA Mir122hg.

Background: Identifying the predictors for seizure outcome in autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and investigating how to prevent persistent seizures would have major clinical benefits effectively. Thus, we aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine seizure outcome-related factors in AE patients.
Methods: PubMed and EMBASE were systematically searched from inception to 10 June 2022 for studies investigating seizure outcome-related factors in AE.

Background And Objective: Postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction (PND) occurs in up to 54% of older patients, giving rise to the heavy psychological and economic burdens to patients and society. To date, the development of PND biomarkers remains a challenge. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A2/B1 (hnRNPA2/B1) is an RNA-binding protein whose prion-like structure is prone to mutation and hence leads to neurodegenerative diseases, but its expression changes in PND remains unclear.

Preoperative levels of cognition-related biomarkers and intraoperative cerebral ischemia and hypoxia might cause postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction (PND). The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive ability of preoperative plasma biomarkers along with cerebral oxygen saturation (SctO) for the incidence of PND in elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). A total of 210 patients aged 65-80 years undergoing spinal surgery were randomly assigned to three groups ( = 70 each): propofol, sevoflurane, and propofol/sevoflurane as anesthesia maintenance protocols.
