Ferroptosis is a novel form of programmed cell death and is considered to be a druggable target for colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy. However, the role of ferroptosis in CRC and its underlying mechanism are not fully understood. In the present study we found that a protein enriched in the Golgi apparatus, Golgi phosphoprotein 3 (GOLPH3), was overexpressed in human CRC tissue and in several CRC cell lines.

Renal Division, Peking University First Hospital; Key Laboratory of Renal Disease, Ministry of Health of China; Key Laboratory of Chronic Kidney Disease Prevention and Treatment, Peking University, Ministry of Education; Research Units of Diagnosis and Treatment of Immune-mediated Kidney Diseases, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China.

Introduction: Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) has been reported to coexist with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Despite the clinical significance of this association, there is a lack of comprehensive research investigating the impact of various common conditions following HBV infection and the potential influence of anti-HBV therapy on the progression of IgAN.

Methods: We investigated 3 distinct states of HBV infection, including chronic HBV infection, resolved HBV infection, and the deposition of hepatitis B antigens in renal tissue, in a follow-up database of 1961 patients with IgAN.

Objective: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype with a poor prognosis. Minichromosome maintenance genes (MCM2-7) crucial for DNA replication are significant biomarkers for various tumor types; however, their roles in TNBC remain underexplored.

Materials And Methods: We utilized four TNBC-related GEO databases to examine MCM2-7 gene expression and predict its prognosis in TNBC, performing single-cell analysis and GSEA to discover MCM6's potential function.

Background And Objective: Pelvic bone tumors represent a harmful orthopedic condition, encompassing both benign and malignant forms. Addressing the issue of limited accuracy in current machine learning algorithms for bone tumor image segmentation, we have developed an enhanced bone tumor image segmentation algorithm. This algorithm is built upon an improved full convolutional neural network, incorporating both the fully convolutional neural network (FCNN-4s) and a conditional random field (CRF) to achieve more precise segmentation.

Purpose: To compare and determine the reliability and conclusiveness of the medium- and long-term efficacy in terms of patient-reported outcome measures and the risk of revisions or reoperations (RRRs) of kinematic alignment (KA) and mechanical alignment (MA) in total knee arthroplasty.

Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Database Library to identify relevant literature. Only randomised clinical trials (RCTs) published before July 2023 were included.

Development and validation of serological dynamic risk score to predict outcome in gastric cancer with adjuvant chemotherapy: a multicentre, longitudinal, cohort study.

Front Oncol

February 2024

State Key Laboratory of Holistic Integrative Management of Gastrointestinal Cancers and National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, China.

Background: Baseline serological biomarkers have the potential to predict the benefits of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with gastric cancer. However, the fluctuating nature of postoperative recurrence risk makes precise treatment challenging. We aimed to develop a risk score in real-time predicting outcomes for postoperative GC patients using blood chemistry tests.

Background: Previous studies have shown that the alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) response has been a key tumour marker in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its definition remains controversial. Recently, a new study has explored and defined the AFP serological response and used it to explain the subclass of intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (IM-HCC) with "sharp-falling" AFP change after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). It may be a new and simple tool for assessing the prognosis of patients.
