In this work, we successfully synthesized eight distinct compounds, comprising four chiral menthylamines and related derivatives. We evaluated their cytotoxic potential against a panel of human cancer cell lines, including human colon cancer HCT-116 cells, human esophageal squamous KYSE-150 cells, human breast cancer MCF-7 cells, and human glioma U87 cells. The U87 cells were chosen for a more in-depth investigation of their anti-tumor efficacy.

Background: We aim to evaluate the causal relationship between different types of physical activity and the risk of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) through a two-sample Mendelian randomization study.
Methods: We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis using publicly available Genome-wide association study associated with physical activity (460 376 individuals) and KOA (403 124 individuals). Two-sample Mendelian randomization analyses were performed to investigate the effects of exposure traits on KOA risk.

Kinematic alignment (KA) in the short to medium term clinical outcomes is superior to the mechanical alignment (MA), but whether it will improve patients' postoperative gait is still controversial. Understanding whether and how KA influences postoperative gait mechanics could provide insights into optimizing alignment philosophy to improve functional outcomes. To investigate the impact of KA versus MA in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) on the operated and contralateral native lower limbs by analyzing plantar pressure distribution during walking gait.

Background/aim: Pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFDs), which encompass pelvic organ prolapse (POP), stress urinary incontinence (SUI), and anal incontinence (AI), are common degenerative diseases in women. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) hold promise for the treatment of PFDs. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from BMSCs, have displayed an extensive role in intercellular communication and tissue repair.

Background: Aortic dissection is a life-threatening clinical emergency, but it is often missed and misdiagnosed due to the limitations of diagnostic technology. In this study, we developed a deep learning-based algorithm for identifying the true and false lumens in the aorta on non-contrast-enhanced computed tomography (NCE-CT) scans and to ascertain the presence of aortic dissection. Additionally, we compared the diagnostic performance of this algorithm with that of radiologists in detecting aortic dissection.

Metformin is one of the most commonly used oral hypoglycemic drugs in clinical practice, with unique roles in neurodegeneration and vascular lesions. Neurodegeneration and vasculopathy coexist in many diseases and typically affect the neurovascular unit (NVU), a minimal structural and functional unit in the central nervous system. Its components interact with one another and are indispensable for maintaining tissue homeostasis.

The residual SYNTAX score (rSS) is employed for the quantification of residual coronary lesions and to guide revascularization. rSS can be combined with other examinations to evaluate the severity of vascular disease and play an evaluative and guiding role in various scenarios. Furthermore, combining rSS with other indicators, benefits prognosis evaluation, and rSS-derived scores have been increasingly used in clinical practice.

Objective: Although the direct anterior approach can reduce muscle damage and ensure accurate prosthesis placement, the steep learning curve and increased risk of complications associated with DAA necessitate careful consideration. Therefore, we describe a technique for a novel percutaneously endoscopic-assisted total hip arthroplasty through mini bikini direct anterior approach (mDAA) and report the learning curve and initial outcomes.
Methods: The first 125 THA performed by a single surgeon between September 2020 and February 2022 using the anterior approach were included, comprising the initial 41 cases of bikini DAA (bDAA) and the subsequent 84 cases of mDAA.

Metabolic reprogramming is a cellular process in which cells modify their metabolic patterns to meet energy requirements, promote proliferation, and enhance resistance to external stressors. This process also introduces new functionalities to the cells. The 'Warburg effect' is a well-studied example of metabolic reprogramming observed during tumorigenesis.

Background: In addition to the potential for multiple pregnancies, natural conception occurring in preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) increases undesired genetic risk. Some studies showed that a dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy after a single blastocyst transfer could be caused by embryo splitting or concurrent spontaneous conception.
Case: We describe a patient undergoing PGT who had a dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy after single blastocyst transfer in a natural cycle.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of programmed cell death and is considered to be a druggable target for colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy. However, the role of ferroptosis in CRC and its underlying mechanism are not fully understood. In the present study we found that a protein enriched in the Golgi apparatus, Golgi phosphoprotein 3 (GOLPH3), was overexpressed in human CRC tissue and in several CRC cell lines.
