This study aimed to examine the effect of thiopental monotherapy as well as its combination with different agents used in anesthesia induction, on cardiac function and redox state of rats with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). A total of 40 male rats were used in this study and randomly divided into five groups: thiopental (TIO), fentanyl + thiopental (FEN + TIO), remifentanil + thiopental (REM + TIO), midazolam + thiopental (MID + TIO), and dexmedetomidine + thiopental (DEX + TIO). Animals were anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of thiopental 85 mg/kg, fentanyl 0.

Cranioplasty is the surgical repair of a bone defect in the skull resulting from a previous operation or injury, which involves lifting the scalp and restoring the contour of the skull with a graft made from material that is reconstructed from scans of the patient's own skull. The paper introduces a 3D printing technology in creating molds, which are filled with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to reconstruct the missing bone part of the skull. The procedure included several steps to create a 3D model in an STL format, conversion into a G-code which is further used to produce the mold itself using a 3D printer.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), breast cancer (BC) and prostate cancer (PC) continue to be high in the research and innovation agenda of the European Commission (EC). This is due to their exceptionally large burden to the national health systems, the profound economic effects of opportunity costs attributable to decreased working ability, premature mortality and the ever-increasing demand for both hospital and home-based medical care. Over the last two decades, the EC has been steadily increasing both the number of proposals being funded and the amounts of financial resources being allocated to these fields of research.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the alterations of the hippocampal function that may be related to anxiogenic response to thermal skin injury, including the morpho-functional alterations, and the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) and (FU) extract in the treatment of anxiety-like behavior that coincides with thermal skin injury. A rat thermal skin injury experimental model was performed on 2-month-old male rats. The evaluated therapeutic protocols included HBO and/or antioxidant supplementation.

Purpose: Endometrial cancer is characterized as histopathological, molecular, genetic, biological, and very diverse group of malignancies. Due to the need to precisely define the indications for adjuvant treatment in recent years, there has been a division made according to risk groups based on prognostic factors, which identify patients at risk for disease relapse, who may benefit from adjuvant therapy. The aim of this research was to examine the clinical and morphological factors that influence disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with FIGO IA stage endometrial cancer.

Despite the pivotal role of IFN-λs in the innate immune response, the data on its genetic polymorphism in relation to COVID-19 severity are scarce and contradictory. In the present study, we aimed to determine if the presence of the most frequent functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the two most important IFN-λs coding genes, namely IFNL3 and IFNL4, alters the likelihood of SARS-CoV-2-infected patients to develop more severe form of the disease. This observational cohort study involved 178 COVID-19 patients hospitalized at the University Clinical Centre Kragujevac, Serbia.
