SARS-CoV-2 virus causes infection which led to a global pandemic in 2020 with the development of severe acute respiratory syndrome. Therefore, this study was aimed at examining its possible role in predicting severity and intrahospital mortality of COVID-19, alongside with other laboratory and biochemical procedures, clinical signs, symptoms, and comorbidity. This study, approved by the Ethical Committee of Clinical Center Kragujevac, was designed as an observational prospective cross-sectional clinical study which was conducted on 127 patients with diagnosed respiratory COVID-19 viral infection from April to August 2020.

: This paper aims to show whether obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity increases the level of systemic inflammation markers regardless of body mass index (BMI) and body composition. : In total, 128 patients with OSA were included in the study. Examinees were divided into two groups: one with mild OSA (apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) < 15) and one with moderate and severe OSA (AHI ≥ 15).

Gastrin-secreting tumors, hypergastrinemia and severe ulcer disease form the trademarks of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES). We report a case of gastrinoma, in a patient who was misdiagnosed for almost five years. The case emphsizes the the special role of functional imaging in the personalized approach to the patient with suggestive symptomatology for NETs.

This paper highlights the cardioprotective potential of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SLGT2i), as well as several most discussed mechanisms responsible for their cardioprotection. Cardiovascular diseases are considered a primary cause of death in nearly 80% of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, with a 2-4-fold greater incidence of heart failure (HF) among diabetics. As novel hypoglycemics, SGLT2i showed exceptional cardiovascular benefits, reflected through robust reductions of cardiovascular mortality and hospitalization for HF in T2DM patients.

Context: The variety of tumor-seeking radiopharmaceuticals, which are currently in clinical use, may have a potential role as imaging agents for adrenal gland tumors, due to physiological characteristics of this organ.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic potential of Tc-HYNIC-TOC, Tc(V)-DMSA, and Tc-MIBI in the assessment of adrenal tumors, by correlating with imaging findings and histopathologic results.
Design: The research is designed as a cross-sectional prospective study.

Introduction: Due to concerns about cumulative radiation exposure in the pediatric population, it is not standard practice to perform dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) analysis in the diagnostic process of musculoskeletal disorders, such as cerebral palsy (CP). This study aimed to evaluate the bone mineral density (BMD) in children with CP and the ethical justification of applying DXA analysis in these children. .

Aims: This study aimed to investigate whether the risk of short-term mortality is different in pulmonary embolism (PE) patients who have heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) as compared with those with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Methods And Results: Predictive value of HFrEF or HFpEF for 7-day (intrahospital) and 30-day all-cause mortality was determined in the cohort of 1055 out of 1201 consecutive acute PE patients from the Serbian multicentre PE registry. Patients were classified into either HFrEF or HFpEF group, according to guideline-proposed criteria.

Background: The worldwide emergence and clonal spread of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) is of great concern. The aim of this nationwide study was to investigate the prevalence of CRAB isolates in Serbia and to characterize underlying resistance mechanisms and their genetic relatedness.
Methods: Non-redundant clinical samples obtained from hospitalized patients throughout Serbia were included in the prospective, observational, multicenter study conducted from January to June 2018.
Pulsatility index (PI) values in a fetal middle cerebral artery (MCA) were compared in no-risk pregnancies to examine the differences related to auditory stimulation test and pregnancy order. The study included 196 women with no-risk pregnancies selected from the database of more than 1000 pregnant women divided into two groups. Group 1 consisted of 98 nulliparous women (C1 = 98) and Group 2 consisted of 98 parous women (C2 = 98).

Background/objective: Data regarding the nephrotoxicity of the peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) with Yttrium- and Lutetium-radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (RSA) are inconclusive. We aimed to evaluate the short- and long-term nephrotoxicity following PRRT usage in patients with all types of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
Methods: A systematic review of observational studies reporting data about nephrotoxicity after treatment with Yttrium and Lutetium RSA was performed.

Longitudinal health-related quality of life (QoL) data in Guillain-Barré (GBS) patients are still scarce. We, therefore, investigated health- related QoL in GBS patients from Serbia and surrounding countries during a six-month follow-up period, and analyzed its association with patients' disability. Our study comprised 74 adult patients diagnosed with GBS from May 2017 until May 2018 in seven tertiary healthcare centers.

The purpose of this study is the application of pressure sensors in diagnostics and evaluation of the accuracy diagnostics of lumbar disc herniation at levels L4/L5 and L5/S1 using the aforementioned platform. The motivation behind the idea to apply the pressure measurement platform is the fact that the motor weakness of plantar and dorsal flexia of the feet is one of the absolute indications for the operative treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation at the indicated levels. In patients, MRI diagnosis of the lumbosacral spine served as the ground truth in the diagnosis of herniation at L4/L5 and L5/S1 levels.
