Chest X-ray has verified its role as a crucial tool in COVID-19 assessment due to its practicability, especially in emergency units, and Brixia score has proven as a useful tool for COVID-19 pneumonia grading. The aim of our study was to investigate correlations between main laboratory parameters, vaccination status, and Brixia score, as well as to confirm if Brixia score is a significant independent predictor of unfavorable outcome (death) in COVID-19 patients. The study was designed as a cross-sectional multicentric study.

Background: Patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE) may have various types of atrial fibrillation (AF). The role of AF in hemodynamic states and outcomes may differ between men and women.
Methods: In total, 1600 patients (743 males and 857 females) with acute PE were enrolled in this study.
Although Medical Physics educators have historically contributed to the education of the non-physics healthcare professions, their role was not studied in a systematic manner. In 2009, EFOMP set up a group to research the issue. In their first paper, the group carried out an extensive literature review regarding physics teaching for the non-physics healthcare professions.

An increase in blood lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] levels, mostly genetically determined, has been identified as an independent risk factor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. No drug has yet been approved that markedly lowers Lp(a) and thereby reduces residual cardiovascular risk. The aim of this article was to critically review the evidence from clinical development studies to date on the efficacy and safety of new RNA-based therapeutics for targeted lowering of Lp(a).

The PCSK9 (Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin type 9) enzyme interferes with the metabolism of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Inhibition of PCSK9 results in lower LDL cholesterol levels, which can be achieved by different molecular pathways. Monoclonal antibodies targeting circulating PCSK9 have shown strong and persistent effects on lowering the LDL cholesterol level, while reducing the risk of future cardiovascular events.

: (SM) is a Gram-negative pathogen discovered by Italian pharmacist, Bizio, in 1819. According to the literature, is resistant to a wide range of antibiotics, including penicillin, cephalosporin, tetracycline, macrolide, nitrofurantoin, and colistin. We conducted a systematic review of published reports, determined what invasive infections could cause SM, and established the most appropriate antibiotic therapy.

Heart failure (HF) is a complex clinical condition characterized by functional and structural defects of the myocardium, but genetic and environmental factors are considered to play an important role in the development of the disease. In the present study, we investigated the genome instability (DNA and chromosomal damage) in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) ≤40% and its association with risk factors. The studied population included 48 individuals, of which 29 HFrEF patients (mean age 57.

Introduction: We present the results of a phase 2a trial of first-line avelumab (anti-programmed death-ligand 1 antibody) plus cetuximab (anti-EGFR antibody) in patients with advanced squamous NSCLC.
Methods: Patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous NSCLC received avelumab 800 mg (d 1 and 8), cetuximab 250 mg/m (d 1) and 500 mg/m (d 8), cisplatin 75 mg/m (d 1), and gemcitabine 1250 mg/m (d 1 and 8) for four 3-week cycles, followed by avelumab 800 mg and cetuximab 500 mg/m every 2 weeks. The primary end point was the best overall response; the secondary end points were progression-free survival, duration of response, overall survival, and safety.

Adiponectin is one of the most important molecules in the body's compensatory response to the development of insulin resistance. By trying to maintain insulin sensitivity, increase insulin secretion and prevent inflammation, adiponectin tries to maintain glucose homeostasis. Interleukin-33, which belongs to the group of alarmins, also promotes insulin secretion.

Introduction: Poor outcome is still a challenging concern in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) world-wide and there are large differences between European countries regarding not only incidence rates, but survival rates as well. In 2014, Serbian Resuscitation Council initiated regular data collection on epidemiology of OHCA, according to the European Registry of Cardiac Arrest (EuReCa) study protocol.
Study Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the results of the first five-year period after initiation of EuReCa study protocol elements implementation in OHCA epidemiological data collection in Serbia.
