Introduction: Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome (KTS) is a very rare congenital anomaly of blood vessels, characterized by the following clinical triad: varicose superficial veins, port-wine stain and usually bony and soft tissue hypertophy of extremities, most often located in the lower extremities. Introduction: Hospital infections (HIs), which are frequently associated with hospital treatment, increase morbidity, mortality and treatment costs. The aim of this study was to establish the incidence of HIs in a neurological intensive care unit (nICU), and to determine the most prevalent causative agents and risk factors for HIs.

Methodology: A cross-sectional study with nested case-control design was conducted between 1 July 2009 and 30 June 2010 at an 18-bed neurological intensive care unit at the Clinical Center Kragujevac, Serbia.

Embolization of ruptured intracranial aneurysms with detachable coils: case series.

Purpose: We present a series of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) from ruptured intracranial aneurysms who were treated with endovascular embolization by detachable coils.

Materials And Methods: There were 108 patients with SAH treated with endovascular coiling. The efficacy of the endovascular coiling was estimated by initial postembolization angiography and by digital subtraction angiography after 6 months, using the following categories: complete occlusion of an aneurysm (98%-100%), near-complete occlusion (90%-98%), and incomplete occlusion (<90%).

Contribution of activation products to occupational exposure following treatment using high-energy photons in radiotherapy.

When high-energy photon beams are used for irradiation in radiotherapy, neutrons that are the result of photonuclear reactions create activation products that affect the occupational dose of radiotherapy staff. For the assessment of activation products in situ gamma spectroscopy was performed parallel to dose-rate measurements following irradiation, by using a high-energy photon beam from a linear accelerator Elekta Precise (Elekta, Stockholm, Sweden) used in radiotherapy. The major identified activation products were the following radioisotopes: (28)Al, (24)Na, (56)Mn, (54)Mn, (187)W, (64)Cu and (62)Cu.

The influence of bisoprolol dose on ADP-induced platelet aggregability in patients on dual antiplatelet therapy.

Purpose: Dual antiplatelet therapy is recommended after acute coronary syndrome or after percutaneous coronary intervention with coronary stent implantation. Many of the patients on dual antiplatelet therapy receive β-blockers; some of them could have antiaggregatory effect. Bisoprolol is a highly selective adrenoceptor-blocker, which is often used in the settings of percutaneous coronary intervention or acute coronary syndrome in patients on dual antiplatelet therapy.

Influence of admission plasma glucose level on short- and long-term prognosis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
