Background/objectives: One of the raising public health problems in the adolescent population is obesity, which has reached epidemic proportions worldwide. The aim of this work is to determine the prevalence of obesity in the population of children of secondary school, age 15 to 19 years in Serbia and the determinate connection with demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the respondents and their eating habits and physical activity.

Methods: The research is part of the fourth National Population Health Survey conducted in 2019, which was conducted by the Republic Institute of Statistics, in cooperation with the Institute of Public Health of Serbia and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia.

Effects of combustible cigarettes and electronic nicotine delivery systems on immune cell-driven inflammation: Evidences from diabetic patients and multiple low dose streptozotocin-treated diabetic mice.

Considering detrimental impacts of combustible cigarettes (CCs) on the exacerbation of diabetes mellitus (DM), a significant number of DM patients have substituted CCs with electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). Herewith, we compared CCs and ENDS-dependent modulation of immune cell-driven inflammation in DM patients who used ENDS (DM), CCs (DM) or were non-smokers (DM), paving the way for the better understanding of ENDS-induced biological effects. Multiple low dose streptozotocin (MLD-STZ)-induced mice model of DM was used to support clinical findings.

Background: Isotretinoin is an oral medicine prescribed for the management of severe acne that is insensitive to conventional therapy, including systemic antibiotics. Acute psychosis refers to a severe mental illness characterized by a loss of touch with realism, visions, delusions, confused thinking, and abnormal behaviors. The study aims to analyze and document these cases to better understand the potential relationship between isotretinoin use and the development of acute psychosis, as well as to find out which therapy is best for treating this problem.

Introduction: The effects of combustible cigarettes (CCs) and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) on immune cell-driven colon inflammation and intestinal healing of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) are still unknown and, therefore, were examined in this study.

Methods: Intracellular staining and flow cytometry analysis of immune cells isolated from UC patients who used ENDS (UCENDS), CCs (UCCC) and who were non-smokers (UCAIR) were performed to elucidate cellular mechanisms which were responsible for CCs and ENDS-dependent modulation of immune response during UC progression. Additionally, dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-colitis was induced in ENDS/CC/air-exposed mice (DSSENDS/ DSSCC/DSSAIR groups) to support clinical findings.

Oxidative stress and galectin-3 levels during skin grafting after hand injury: gender differences.

The study included 40 patients of both genders who underwent skin transplantation after a hand injury. Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (ASAH) is defined as bleeding in the subarachnoid space caused by the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. About 11% of people who develop ASAH die before receiving medical treatment, and 40% of patients die within four weeks of being admitted to hospital. Neurosonographic Classification in Premature Infants Receiving Omega-3 Supplementation Using Convolutional Neural Networks.

This study focuses on developing a model for the precise determination of ultrasound image density and classification using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for rapid, timely, and accurate identification of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Image density is measured by comparing two regions of interest on ultrasound images of the choroid plexus and brain parenchyma using the Delta E CIE76 value. These regions are then combined and serve as input to the CNN model for classification.

A Detailed Examination of Retroperitoneal Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma: A Case Report and Review of the Existing Literature.

This detailed review focuses on retroperitoneal undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS), a particularly aggressive soft-tissue sarcoma that poses unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its rarity and complex presentation. By documenting a new case of retroperitoneal UPS and conducting a comprehensive review of all known cases, this article aims to expand the existing body of knowledge on the epidemiology, molecular pathogenesis, and treatment strategies associated with this rare disease. The complexity of diagnosing UPS is emphasized given that it rarely occurs in the retroperitoneal space and its histological and molecular complexity often complicates its recognition.

Introduction: Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), together with smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) and benign leiomyomas, belongs to a heterogeneous group of uterine neoplasms. According to the World Health Organization, tumors originating from uterine smooth muscle fibers are the second most frequent tumors. It is challenging to distinguish between STUMP and LMS because of an overlap of symptoms, lack of a precise definition, and unequivocal information obtained using imaging diagnostic methods.
