Background: Early thromboprophylaxis does not prevent hospital admissions and death among outpatients with symptomatic COVID-19. Its impact on long-term outcomes, including long COVID symptoms and performance status, is unknown.
Objectives: To assess the long-term effects of thromboprophylaxis given at the time of acute COVID-19 in outpatients.

: As adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells are becoming the tool of choice for many clinical applications; standardized cryopreservation protocols are necessary to deliver high-quality samples. For this purpose, the cryopreservation and thawing of native adipose tissue under GMP conditions could represent an extremely useful and powerful tool for the direct reinfusion of the tissue, and consequently, of its stromal vascular fraction. : In this study, 19 samples of adipose tissue were cryopreserved and characterized before and after storage in liquid nitrogen vapors.

Background: Antithrombotic treatment may improve the disease course in non-critically ill, symptomatic COVID-19 outpatients.
Methods: We performed an individual patient-level analysis of the OVID and ETHIC randomized controlled trials, which compared enoxaparin thromboprophylaxis for either 14 (OVID) or 21 days (ETHIC) vs. no thromboprophylaxis for outpatients with symptomatic COVID-19 and at least one additional risk factor.

Unlabelled: This national survey investigated the current practice in Switzerland by collecting participants' opinions on paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) clone assessment and clinical practice.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate clinical indications prompting PNH clones' assessment and physician's accessibility of a flow cytometry facility, and also to understand clinical attitudes on the follow-up (FU) of patients with PNH clones.
Methods: The survey includes 16 multiple-choice questions related to PNH and targets physicians with a definite level of experience in the topic using two screener questions.

Background: Vapor Tunnel (VT) technology is the result of a pulse modulation during holmium laser emission which reduces stone retropulsion. We present the outcomes of this tool in the treatment of ureteral stones.
Methods: Two hundred ten patients with a ureteral stone were randomly assigned to holmium laser lithotripsy with (group A) or without (group B) the VT technology.

Introduction: The benefits of early thromboprophylaxis in symptomatic COVID-19 outpatients remain unclear. We present the 90-day results from the randomised, open-label, parallel-group, investigator-initiated, multinational OVID phase III trial.
Methods: Outpatients aged 50 years or older with acute symptomatic COVID-19 were randomised to receive enoxaparin 40 mg for 14 days once daily vs.

Purpose: We performed a prospective randomized comparison among Retrograde IntraRenal Surgery (RIRS) and MiniPerc (MP) for stones between 10 and 20 mm to evaluate outcomes with the same laser device: Fiber Dust.
Methods: Patients with a single renal stone between 10 and 20 mm were randomized to RIRS (Group A) versus MP (Group B). Exclusion criteria were age < 18 or > 75, presence of acute infection, coagulation impairments, cardiovascular or pulmonary comorbidities.

Background: COVID-19 is a viral prothrombotic respiratory infection. Heparins exert antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory effects, and might have antiviral properties. We aimed to investigate whether thromboprophylaxis with enoxaparin would prevent untoward hospitalisation and death in symptomatic, but clinically stable outpatients with COVID-19.

A trend towards greater benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) in pN+ bladder cancer (BCa) has been observed in multiple randomized controlled trials. However, it is still unclear which patients might benefit the most from this approach. We retrospectively analyzed a multicenter cohort of 1381 patients with pTany pN1-3 cM0 R0 urothelial BCa treated with radical cystectomy (RC) with or without cisplatin-based ACT.

Purpose: PERSEUS-IT (NCT02289924) was a prospective, observational, 2-year study evaluating the effectiveness and treatment patterns of intravitreal aflibercept (IVT-AFL) in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) in routine clinical practice in Italy.
Methods: Treatment-naïve patients with nAMD receiving IVT-AFL per routine clinical practice were enrolled. The primary endpoint was mean change in visual acuity (VA; decimals) from baseline to month (M) 12 and M24.

Purpose: To test the impact of carboplatin-based ACT on overall survival (OS) in patients with pN1-3 cM0 BCa.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 1057 patients with pTany pN1-3 cM0 urothelial BCa treated with or without carboplatin-based ACT after radical cystectomy and bilateral lymph-node dissection between 2002 and 2018 at 12 European and North-American hospitals. The origin of fractures of the fifth metatarsus and Jones fracture is not clear. The goal of this study was to investigate the evidence of anatomical deformities such as metatarsus adductus, hindfoot varus, or pes cavus as risk factors for this pathology. A literature search of records related to the review question was performed screening PubMed/Medline, Embase and Cochrane library databases (last update: May 2020) according to PRISMA guidelines.

Background: To compare clinical intra and early postoperative outcomes between conventional Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate using the Virtual Basket tool (VB-HoLEP) to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Methods: This prospective randomized study enrolled consecutive patients with BPH, who were assigned to undergo either HoLEP (n = 100), or VB-HoLEP (n = 100). All patients were evaluated preoperatively and postoperatively, with particular attention to catheterization time, operative time, blood loss, irrigation volume and hospital stay.

Purpose: To assess the effects of a new ejaculation-sparing thulium laser enucleation of the prostate (ES-ThuLEP) technique on sexual functions and micturition, in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and to evaluate how the surgical technique of ES-ThuLEP can lead to ejaculation preservation.
Methods: A prospective study was carried out between January 2015 and January 2018 on patients with surgical indication for BPH, who wished to preserve ejaculation. The patients were treated with ES-ThuLEP and were evaluated before and 3 and 6 months after surgery.

Crisponi/cold-induced sweating syndrome (CS/CISS) is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by hyperthermia, camptodactyly, feeding and respiratory difficulties often leading to sudden death in the neonatal period. The affected individuals who survived the first critical years of life, develop cold-induced sweating and scoliosis in early childhood. The disease is caused by variants in the CRLF1 or in the CLCF1 gene.

Crisponi/cold-induced sweating syndrome (CS/CISS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by a complex phenotype (hyperthermia and feeding difficulties in the neonatal period, followed by scoliosis and paradoxical sweating induced by cold since early childhood) and a high neonatal lethality. CS/CISS is a genetically heterogeneous disorder caused by mutations in CRLF1 (CS/CISS1), CLCF1 (CS/CISS2) and KLHL7 (CS/CISS-like). Here, a whole exome sequencing approach in individuals with CS/CISS-like phenotype with unknown molecular defect revealed unpredicted alternative diagnoses.
