Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract whose etiology is unknown, which can transmurally affect any segment of the intestine and/or the perineal region. Worldwide, the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease has increased in recent decades, and the same upward trend can be seen in South America. At national level, there are no official data, however, the increase in the number of publications in the last 20 years confirms this upward trend.

Unlabelled: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorder, characterized by changes of the intestinal habit associated with abdominal pain. This study analyzed factors associated with this pathology during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was seen that the impact of IBS was higher in young women who had ongoing studies in the medical field.
Objectives: Determine the prevalence of IBS in medical students and explore the associated factors with the increase of its symptoms, through the use of digital tools.

An adequate approach to refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (rGERD) is essential for achieving therapeutic success. From the precise definition of rGERD to the detailed characterization of its phenotypes, it will pave the way for the customization of optimal therapy for each patient. In this narrative literature review, the aim is to provide an updated synthesis of the utility of various diagnostic tools and explore the wide range of therapeutic options, both medical and invasive, available for this condition.

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are validated and standardized tools that complement physician evaluations and guide treatment decisions. They are crucial for monitoring atopic dermatitis (AD) and chronic urticaria (CU) in clinical practice, but there are unmet needs and knowledge gaps regarding their use in clinical practice.
Objecctive: We investigated the global real-world use of AD and CU PROMs in allergology and dermatology clinics as well as their associated local and regional networks.

Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is unpredictable and can severely impair patients' quality of life. Patients with CSU need a convenient, user-friendly platform to complete patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) on their mobile devices. CRUSE , the Chronic Urticaria Self Evaluation app, aims to address this unmet need.

Objective: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, systemic, relapsing disease with dermatological manifestations, which imposes a high burden on patients, families and the health care system and has a high psychological, social, and economic impact and on the quality of life of patients. It mainly affects the pediatric population and, to a lesser extent, the adult population. The clinical presentation varies according to the age and evolution of the disease, and currently there are multiple pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies available for the symptomatic management of patients.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a clinical condition in which gastric reflux causes symptoms or damage to the esophageal mucosa. It is managed with proton pump inhibitors, however, up to 45% of patients with suspected GERD are refractory to treatment. It is necessary to establish a true GERD diagnosis by means of a digestive endoscopy, which does not show lesions in approximately 70% of patients.

Prognostic and predictive factors for early and late distant distance recurrence risk in estrogen-receptor positive and HER2-receptor negative early breast cancer are well known, but not all these variables work equally for the prediction. The following are the most widely accepted variables for categorizing risk levels: clinic-pathologic features (tumor size, lymph node involvement, histological grade, age, menopausal status, Ki-67 expression, estrogen, and progesterone expression), primary systemic treatment response (pathologic response and/or Ki-67 downstaging), and gene expression signatures stratification. Treatment guidelines from cancer societies and collaborative groups, online predict-tools, real-world data and experts' opinion recommends different adjuvant strategies (chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, ovarian suppression, olaparib, or abemaciclib) depending on the low (< 10%), intermediate (10%-20%) or high-risk of distance recurrence at least in the first 5 years.

Neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) of the head and neck (HN) account for <1% of HN cancers (HNCs), with a 5-year overall survival (OS) <20%. This is a retrospective study of HN NECs diagnosed at our institution between 2005 and 2022. Immunohistochemistry and next-generation sequencing (NGS) were used to evaluate neuroendocrine markers, tumor mutational burden (TMB), mutational profiles and T-cell receptor repertoires.

Introduction: Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, cardiac surgeries in patients with previous infection by COVID-19 were suspended or postponed, which led to surgeries performed in patients with an advanced stage of their disease and an increase in the waiting list. There is a heterogeneous attitude in Latin America on the optimal timing to cardiac surgery in patients with previous COVID-19 infection due to scarce data on its outcome. Two Latin American associations joined to establish common suggestions on the optimal timing of surgery in patients with previous COVID-19 infection.

Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) has been shown to have prognostic value in a number of different clinical settings, such as cardiovascular disease, including heart failure. However, its prognostic value in heart transplant (HT) recipients remains unknown. The aim of this systematic review is to determine the prognostic value of pre-transplant RDW for mortality in HT recipients.

The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement assembled an international working group of venous thromboembolism experts and patient representatives to develop a standardised minimum set of outcomes and outcome measurements for integration into clinical practice and potentially research to support clinical decision making and benchmarking of quality of care. 15 core outcomes important to patients and health-care professionals were selected and categorised into four domains: patient-reported outcomes, long term consequences of the disease, disease-specific complications, and treatment-related complications. The outcomes and outcome measures were designed to apply to all patients with venous thromboembolism aged 16 years or older.
