Therefore, we assessed image quality of dose-optimized (DO) C-spine CT in patients capable of shoulder pull-down in an emergency setting.

Purpose: To establish thresholds for contrast enhancement-based attenuation (CM) and iodine concentration (IOD) for the quantitative evaluation of enhancement in renal lesions on single-phase split-filter dual-energy CT (tbDECT) and combine measurements in a machine learning algorithm to potentially improve performance.

Acutely ruptured atherosclerotic plaques with adjacent floating clot within the internal carotid artery in patients suffering from extra-/intracranial tandem lesions are often treated with stent-assisted balloon angioplasty. We present a strategy to retrieve the extracranial thrombus using the "stent retriever assisted vacuum-locked extraction" (SAVE) method, which initially was described for the intracranial vasculature. The extracranial SAVE (eSAVE) method could be an additional tool for the treatment of acute tandem lesions.

Dixon sequences are established as a reliable MRI technique that can be used for problem-solving in the assessment of bone marrow lesions. Unlike other fat suppression methods, Dixon techniques rely on the difference in resonance frequency between fat and water and in a single acquisition, fat only, water only, in-phase and out-of-phase images are acquired. This gives Dixon techniques the unique ability to quantify the amount of fat within a bone lesion, allowing discrimination between marrow-infiltrating and non-marrow-infiltrating lesions such as focal nodular marrow hyperplasia.

Context: Surgical intervention is advised in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type-1 (MEN-1) and nonfunctioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) with a size ≥20 mm. The usefulness of mechanistic models to disentangle complex multiscale cancer processes, such as treatment response, has been widely acknowledged. However, a major barrier for multiscale models to predict treatment outcomes in individual patients lies in their initialization and parametrization, which needs to reflect individual cancer characteristics accurately. In this study, we use multitype measurements acquired routinely on a single breast tumor, including histopathology, MRI, and molecular profiling, to personalize parts of a complex multiscale model of breast cancer treated with chemotherapeutic and antiangiogenic agents.

Insulinomas are often difficult to localize. We present a 47-year-old woman who had recurrent neuroglycopenic symptoms and positive Whipple triad for 28 months. The 14 hours of fasting test confirmed the diagnosis of endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia which is highly suspicious for the presence of an insulinoma.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the findings of diffuse periportal enhancement in the liver on hepatobiliary phase gadoxetate disodium-enhanced magnetic resonance images by comparing with the finding of periportal hyperintensity on T2-weighted images and to reveal their clinical significance.Nineteen consecutive patients with diffuse periportal enhancement on hepatobiliary phase images constituted the study population. The intrahepatic diffuse periportal enhancement finding was assessed on whether it corresponded to periportal hyperintense patterns on T2-weighted images or not in the location, and the cases were classified into 2 groups according to this characteristic.

Childhood neuroblastoma is a hypervascular tumor of neural origin, for which antiangiogenic drugs are currently being evaluated; however, predictive biomarkers of treatment response, crucial for successful delivery of precision therapeutics, are lacking. We describe an MRI-pathologic cross-correlative approach using intrinsic susceptibility (IS) and susceptibility contrast (SC) MRI to noninvasively map the vascular phenotype in neuroblastoma Th-MYCN transgenic mice treated with the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor inhibitor cediranib. We showed that the transverse MRI relaxation rate * (second) and fractional blood volume (BV, %) were sensitive imaging biomarkers of hemorrhage and vascular density, respectively, and were also predictive biomarkers of response to cediranib.
