Methods: In this study, 12 male New Zealand rabbits weighing 1600 to 2000 g were used. All the rabbits were randomly divided into two groups (n = 6 per group): PRP group and control group.

Background: Hand hygiene using alcoholic hand rub solution is essential for the prevention of surgical site infections. There are several opportunities for hygienic hand disinfection (termed "hand hygiene" in the following) during immediate pre-, intra- and postoperative orthopedic patient care. However, the level of hand hygiene compliance among surgical and anesthesia staff in this context is unclear.

The Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP), a population-based study from a rural state in northeastern Germany with a relatively poor life expectancy, supplemented its comprehensive examination program in 2008 with whole-body MR imaging at 1.5 T (SHIP-MR). Use of the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire-2 to assess motivation for physical activity in persons with rheumatoid arthritis: an observational study.

Arthritis patients may show little motivation for physical activity (PA), resulting in a sedentary lifestyle. The primary objective of the study was to investigate whether motivation for PA and fulfillment of PA recommendations were associated with cardiorespiratory fitness in patients with RA. The exploratory objective was to study whether university students could be used as controls for RA patients in future studies of PA motivation.

Translation and rotation analysis based on stress MRI for the diagnosis of anterior cruciate ligament tears.

Background: Due to the increasing need for a detailed biomechanical analysis of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) lesions, the aim of the study was to develop a method of direct measurement of the three-dimensional tibial translation and rotation based on stress MRI.

Methods: For the purpose of the study, thirty patients with acute ACL rupture and 17 healthy control subjects were selected. Based on clinical examination, they were qualified for MRI examination using the Arthroholder Device prototype to perform anterior tibial translation.

Analysis of risk factors affecting mortality in elderly patients operated on for hip fractures: A retrospective comparative study.

Objective: The aims of this study were (1) to investigate the effects of different demographic and perioperative modalities on mortality rates and (2) to compare mortality rates between different implants in elderly patients operated on for hip fractures.

Mid-term clinical and radiological outcomes of arthroscopic repair of isolated and combined subscapularis tears: A single-center experience.

Objective: The Specific Acromioclavicular Score (SACS) is a questionnaire that assesses functional outcomes for Acromioclavicular Joint (ACJ) pathologies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ease of use, reliability, and validity of the Turkish-translated and culturally adapted form of the SACS.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of Doppler ultrasound (DU) in predicting arterial injuries following the penetrating trauma of the forearm, by comparing preoperative diagnosis made by DU and that made by physical examination (PE) with the intraoperative diagnosis.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 48 patients (44 men, 3 women; mean age = 30 ± 12.5 years) who underwent surgical treatment due to a suspected arterial injury following a penetrating trauma in the forearm from 2016 to 2018 were included.

Variability in the Processing of Fresh Osteochondral Allografts.

An understanding of these techniques is important when evaluating the optimal protocol for processing fresh osteochondral allografts prior to surgical implantation.

Strategy of pulseless pink supracondylar humerus fracture treatment in children: a comparison of two approaches.

Material And Methods: This was a retrospective multicenter study of patients with pulseless pink SCHFs treated in ten pediatric surgery, trauma, or orthopedics departments in the Czech and Slovak Republic between 2014 and 2018.

The use of acetabular screws in total hip arthroplasty and its influence on wear and periacetabular osteolysis in the long-term follow-up.

Catalase Predicts In-Hospital Mortality after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest.

The generation of harmful reactive oxygen species (ROS), including hydrogen peroxide, in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors causes systemic ischemia/reperfusion injury that may lead to multiple organ dysfunction and mortality. We hypothesized that the antioxidant enzyme catalase may attenuate these pathophysiological processes after cardiac arrest. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the predictive value of catalase levels for mortality in OHCA survivors.

Management of musculoskeletal tumours of the extremity in low-resource settings.

Background: Management of extremity tumor is particularly challenging in low-resource settings where patients are often referred with late presentations. First, diagnostic means are limited, with CT scan, MRI, and pathology usually not being available. Limitations are also related to therapeutic means, as the absence of adjuvant therapy (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) may preclude any improvement in overall survival despite a curative surgical treatment.

Tumor and Peripheral Immune Status in Soft Tissue Sarcoma: Implications for Immunotherapy.

Soft Tissue Sarcomas (STS) are a heterogeneous and rare group of tumors. Immune cells, soluble factors, and immune checkpoints are key elements of the complex tumor microenvironment. Monitoring these elements could be used to predict the outcome of the disease, the response to therapy, and lead to the development of new immunotherapeutic approaches.

The Role of Natural Killer Cells in Soft Tissue Sarcoma: Prospects for Immunotherapy.

Soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) represent about 80% of sarcomas, and are a heterogeneous group of rare and malignant tumors. STS arise from mesenchymal tissues and can grow into structures such as adipose tissue, muscles, nervous tissue and blood vessels. Morphological evaluation has been the standard model for the diagnosis of sarcomas, and even in samples with similar characteristics, they present a diversity in cytogenetic and genetic sequence alterations, which further increases the diversity of sarcomas.

Introduction: Owing to their professional and personal experiences, retired military orthopedic surgeons' views of their careers are a unique source of inspiration. Reflecting on their experiences allows them to grasp the positive points and those that need to be improved for future generations. The purpose of this study is to gather the opinions of retired surgeons on the career of military orthopedic surgeons.
