This retrospective study is the only one in the last 10 years from central Europe and provides a current picture of prevalence, new diagnostic modalities, new methods of surgical treatment, and also offers new insights into post-operative care. Triceps tendon rupture is the least reported among all the tendon injuries in the literature. In general, effective treatments for tendon injuries are lacking because the understanding of tendon biology lags behind that of the other components of the musculoskeletal system.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between subclinical lymphedema identified prior to surgical intervention and clinical lymphedema observed in the late period, the incidence of lymphedema in our cohort, and the associated risk factors.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study was conducted with early-stage breast cancer patients who had been enrolled in a previous study. For diagnosing lymphedema, physical examination, L-Dex® score, and circumferential measurement was used.

In the last two decades, next-generation sequencing (NGS) has facilitated enormous progress in cancer medicine, in both diagnosis and treatment. However, the usefulness of NGS in older cancer patients is unclear. To determine the role of NGS in older cancer patients, we retrospectively assessed demographic, clinicopathologic, and disease-specific data from 100 randomly selected cancer patients (any subtype/stage) who underwent NGS testing in 2020 at our institution and compared the treatment outcomes (progression-free survival [PFS] and overall survival [OS]) in the younger and older patient cohorts (A [n = 34] and B [n = 66]: age < 70 and ≥70 years, respectively).

Corticosteroids are used frequently in oncology and many patients require short- or long-term corticosteroid therapy. General clinical guidelines and recommendations exist on the use of corticosteroids; however, evidence is lacking for recommendations on their appropriate use in older adult with cancer. Treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) has dramatically improved over the last decade with 5-hydroxytryptamine type 3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonists and neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor antagonists or a combination of both.

Background This study aims to evaluate the prognostic significance of the modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Methodology A retrospective analysis was conducted among 65 patients diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer who received treatment and follow-up at the Oncology Department of Elias Emergency University Hospital in Bucharest, Romania, from January 2016 to January 2024. Patient data were collected, including demographic information, tumor characteristics, and laboratory parameters.

Background: The optimal radiotherapy technique for cardiac sparing in left-sided early breast cancer (EBC) is not clear. In this context, the aim of our dosimetric study was to compare cardiac and lung doses according to the type of radiotherapy - whole breast irradiation (WBI), external partial breast irradiation (PBI), and multicatheter interstitial brachytherapy-accelerated partial breast irradiation (MIB-APBI). The dosimetric results with the WBI and PBI were calculated with and without DIBH.

Oncofertility is an extremely significant topic that is increasingly being discussed owing to increased evidence indicating that fertility preservation does not affect the treatment outcomes of patients with cancer but significantly contributes to preserving life quality. The effect of chemotherapy can range from minimal effects to complete ovarian atrophy. Limited data are available on the effects of monoclonal antibodies and targeted therapies on the ovaries and fertility.

Introduction: Anticancer treatments have significantly contributed to increasing cure rates of breast cancer in the last years; however, they can also lead to short- and long-term side effects, including gonadotoxicity, and compromised fertility in young women. Oncofertility is a crucial issue for young patients who have not yet completed their family planning at the time of cancer diagnosis.
Areas Covered: This review aims to cover all the latest available evidence in the field of oncofertility, including the gonadotoxicity of currently adopted anticancer therapies in the curative breast cancer setting, the available strategies for fertility preservation and the feasibility of achieving a pregnancy following anticancer treatment completion.

Background: This was an observational study prospectively evaluating the effectiveness and safety of aflibercept/FOLFIRI administered in second-line mCRC per the reimbursement criteria in Poland.
Methods: Consecutive mCRC patients who progressed with first-line oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy received aflibercept (4 mg/kg IV) followed by FOLFIRI every 2 weeks until progression or unacceptable toxicity. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS); overall survival (OS) and safety were the secondary endpoints.

Background: Recent evidence brought by novel anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) antibody-drug conjugates is leading to significant changes in HER2-negative breast cancer (BC) best practices. A new targetable category termed 'HER2-low' has been identified in tumors previously classified as 'HER2-negative'. Daily practice in pathology and medical oncology is expected to align to current recommendations, but patient access to novel anticancer drugs across geographies might be impeded due to local challenges.

Death receptor signalization that triggers the extrinsic apoptotic pathway and TGF-β1 have important roles in urothelial carcinogenesis, with a complex interplay between them. The aim of this research was to assess the association of death receptors DR4, DR5, and FAS as well as TGF-β1 immunohistochemical expression with the clinicopathological characteristics of urothelial bladder cancer (UBC) and to evaluate their prognostic significance. The decrease or loss of death receptors' expression was significantly associated with muscle-invasive tumors, while non-invasive UBC often retains the expression of death receptors, which are mutually strongly linked.

Background: In patients with resectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), induction chemoimmunotherapy followed by surgical resection has shown unprecedented rates of pathological response and event-free survival. However, a triple-induction including radiochemotherapy and immunotherapy followed by surgical resection has not been routinely established in clinical practice.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 47-year-old patient with stage IIIA NSCLC who was treated in a combined concept including induction concurrent radiochemotherapy, followed by 4 cycles of pembrolizumab and subsequent intrapericardial left-sided pneumonectomy.

Objective: Differences in individual muscle/fat volumes may change the effectiveness of chemotherapy. In this study, the relationship between trunkal muscle and fat volume and body mass index (BMI) obtained before receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) in patients with breast cancer and complete pathological response (pCR) was investigated.
Materials And Methods: The volumes of psoas, abdominal and paraspinal muscles, and trunkal subcutaneous and visceral fat were calculated using CoreSlicer AI 2.

Purpose: Male breast cancer (MBC) is a rare, but increasingly common disease, and lacks prospective studies. Collaborative efforts are needed to understand and address MBC, including its prognosis, in different countries.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical, histopathological, and molecular-genetic characteristics, treatments, and survival outcomes of MBC diagnosed between 2007 and 2017 in the Czech Republic.

Arcagen (NCT02834884) is a European prospective study aiming at defining the molecular landscape of rare cancers for treatment guidance. We present data from the cohort of rare thoracic tumors. Patients with advanced pleural mesothelioma (PM) or thymic epithelial tumors (TET) underwent genomic profiling with large targeted assay [>300 genes, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI) status] on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) or plasma samples.

Chronic liver diseases are worldwide on the rise. Due to the rapidly increasing incidence, in particular in Western countries, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is gaining importance as the disease can develop into hepatocellular carcinoma. Lipid accumulation in hepatocytes has been identified as the characteristic structural change in MASLD development, but molecular mechanisms responsible for disease progression remained unresolved.
