The occurrence of anterior abdominal wall ulcer at the site of the peritoneal catheter (PC) is one of the rarest complications of peritoneal dialysis (PD). When present, it is mainly caused by which respond well to vancomycin therapy. Despite well-conducted therapy, there is a tendency to relapse and induce peritonitis, which makes it necessary to remove the PC and change the dialysis model of treatment and/or re-insert the catheter at another place to preserve PD as a treatment method.

Fabry disease (FD) belongs to the group of lysosomal storage diseases (LSD), which are characterised by insufficient activity of enzymes responsible for the intra-lysosomal breakdown of various substrates. The result is an uncontrolled accumulation of by-products of cellular metabolism. Lysosomal storage diseases are inherited diseases, transmitted mainly in an autosomal recessive fashion.

Introduction Head and neck abscesses are categorized as either odontogenic, originating from dental infections, or non-odontogenic, arising from soft tissue inflammation. This article aimed to investigate inflammatory markers, including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV), and compare them against established diagnostic parameters such as white blood cell (WBC) count, neutrophil count (Neu), lymphocyte count (Ly), platelet count (PLT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin (PCT). Material and methods Our retrospective analysis of a prospective study involved 80 patients, including 50 individuals (56% men) with an average age of 41.

Diarrhea frequently occurs after vascular organ transplantation, including kidney transplants. This may result from non-infectious factors, adverse effects of immunosuppressive medications, or infections caused by various pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites, for example, intestinal protozoan parasites such as spp., which are particularly dangerous for immunocompromised patients.

DNA-binding protein A (DbpA) belongs to the Y-box family of cold shock domain (CSD) proteins that bind RNA/DNA and exert intracellular functions in cell stress, proliferation, and differentiation. Given the pattern of DbpA staining in inflammatory glomerular diseases, without adherence to cell boundaries, we hypothesized extracellular protein occurrence and specific functions. Lipopolysaccharide and ionomycin induce DbpA expression and secretion from melanoma and mesangial cells.

Introduction Worldwide, over 850 million people need renal replacement therapy, and over 80% of them are on hemodialysis. The term "dialysis adequacy" is most often associated with the achievement of minimally acceptable indices - single pool Kt/V (spKt/V) and urea reduction ratio (URR%) and largely does not take into account other clinical indicators in patients. In addition, it should be taken into account that in the conditions of clinical practice, their measurement is carried out according to standards controlled by the regulatory structures and is carried out with a frequency between one and three months, and not during each dialysis procedure.
