Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common benign tumors of female genital diseases, unlike uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare and aggressive uterine cancer. This narrative review aims to discuss the biology and diagnosis of LMS and, at the same time, their differential diagnosis, in order to distinguish the biological and molecular origins. The authors performed a Medline and PubMed search for the years 1990-2022 using a combination of keywords on the topics to highlight the many genes and proteins involved in the pathogenesis of LMS.

Objective: It has been suggested that the manipulation of neoplastic tissue during hysteroscopy may lead to dissemination of tumor cells into the peritoneal cavity and worsen prognosis and overall survival. The goal of this study was to assess the oncological safety comparing hysteroscopy to Pipelle blind biopsy in the presurgical diagnosis of patients with endometrial cancer.
Methods: We performed a retrospective multicentric study among patients who had received primary surgical treatment for endometrial cancer.

The quality of an oocyte is influenced by its microenvironment, which includes cumulus cells and follicular fluid, as well as cells of the immune system and their products. The ovarian interleukins, which are secreted by the granulosa cells and other immune cells within the ovaries and follicles, regulate various functions between the cells. IL-6 is a cytokine that is present in the follicular fluid and may affect the quality of oocytes.

Objective: Patients' participation is part of patient-centeredness, but it is so far unclear whether providers in multidisciplinary tumor conferences (MTCs) with patient participation communicate in a patient-centered way. Our aim is to explore (a) to what extent providers ask questions to breast and gynecological cancer patients during case discussion in MTCs, (b) how providers respond to patients' expressions of emotions during case discussions, and (c) which patient- and context-related characteristics and responses are associated with patients' trust in the treatment team after the case discussion.
Methods: This observational study included survey data and audio recordings of MTCs with patient participation at three breast and gynecological cancer centers.

Several questions regarding the role of vaccination in women treated for high-grade cervical intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) have not been clarified. One of the main queries is whether the time at which the vaccine is administered (before or after treatment) influences the protection against post-treatment HSIL. A second unanswered question is whether the vaccine has any effect in women with persistent HPV after treatment.

Background: High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 2/3 lesions in human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive women <30 years of age have high spontaneous regression rates. To reduce overtreatment, biomarkers are needed to delineate advanced CIN lesions that require treatment. We analyzed the FAM19A4/miR124-2 methylation test and HPV16/18 genotyping in HPV-positive women aged <30 years, aiming to identify CIN2/3 lesions in need of treatment.

Advanced cervical cancer can lead to life-threatening vaginal bleeding. Emergency uterine artery embolization (UAE) has been successfully used in such cases to achieve hemostasis. Our case demonstrates the unusual emergency use of this procedure to cease heavy hemorrhage, which led to hematometra, uterine rupture and hemoperitoneum in a patient with a large tumor in the cervical region.

Various studies have shown that immigrant women in comparison to non-immigrant women of the same parity have lower rates of epidural anesthesia (EDA). Data from two studies on immigrant obstetric care in Berlin, Germany were analyzed to answer the following question: What reasons do the medical staff see for the lower rate of EDA in immigrant women? Between May and August 2017, 34 interviews with obstetricians and midwives in four obstetric clinics in Berlin were conducted on the topic of obstetric care for immigrant women. After anonymizing the more than 20 h of interview material, transcripts were coded with MaxQDa and analyzed according to the qualitative content analysis.
