Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of enamel matrix derivative (EMD) application following subgingival instrumentation of residual pockets in periodontitis patients on inflammatory host response, microbiological composition, and clinical outcome.

Methods: In this double-blinded randomized controlled trial, a total of 22 patients with generalized periodontitis stage III or IV presenting with ≥ 6 mm probing pocket depth (PPD) at re-evaluation after initial periodontal therapy were included. Participants were randomly allocated at a 1:1 ratio to subgingival instrumentation with (EMD +) or without (EMD-) non-surgical EMD application into the pocket.

Objectives: This prospective clinical study aimed to compare transfer accuracy and immediate loss rate of hard versus soft transfer trays utilizing a CAD/CAM workflow.

Background: Despite high rates of successful outcomes after open and arthroscopic distal clavicle excision (DCE) for symptomatic acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) degeneration, some patients present with persistent symptoms and disabilities after surgical intervention. This report generally focuses on challenges associated with 3D visualization and specifically investigates the impact of the indeterminate selection of the angle of the line-of-sight on 3D surfaces. The capacity of a tissue to continuously alter its phenotype lies at the heart of how an animal is able to quickly adapt to changes in environmental stimuli. Within tissues, differentiated cells are rigid and play a limited role in adapting to new environments; however, differentiated cells are replenished by stem cells that are defined by their phenotypic plasticity. Here we demonstrate that a Wnt-responsive stem cell niche in the junctional epithelium is responsible for the capability of this tissue to quickly adapt to changes in the physical consistency of a diet.

Microvascular reconstruction of the cheek is most often performed using fasciocutaneous flaps and without functional reconstruction of the masseter muscle. This article reports a technique of masseter muscle resection, dissection of the masseteric nerve, and masseter muscle reconstruction with a functional gracilis muscle flap.
