Introduction: While the undisplaced acetabular fractures have a good prognosis after conservative treatment, the management of the displaced fractures has been a controversial issue over the last decades with variable results in their treatment and prognosis. Anatomical reduction can be only achieved operatively. The long term outcome of 209 patients with displaced acetabular fractures treated by open reduction and internal fixation was presented.

A prospective clinical trial from January 1994 to February 1996 evaluated the efficacy of a vacuum sealing technique in dealing with sacral pressure ulcers, acute traumatic soft tissue defects and infected soft tissue defects following rigid stabilization of lower extremity fractures in 45 patients. Polyvinyl foam under negative pressure generates an area of high contact forces at the wound/foam interface. This situation appears to facilitate granulation tissue production while maintaining a relatively clean wound bed.

Tracheobronchial ruptures in children after blunt trauma are rare, with an incidence at our clinic of 0.17% of juvenile thoracic injuries in the years 1985 to 1994. The symptoms are variable, and these injuries frequently occur in conjunction with other thoracic injuries, leading to delays in diagnosis.

Twenty-seven patients with elbow joint dislocation were reviewed and treated between 1979 and 1983. For statistical reasons a sample of 27 elbows of healthy adults matched on age and sex were also roentgenographed. A computer-aided analysis of the carrying angle of the arm and the bow angle of the ulnar trochlear notch was made.
