The worldwide distribution of Echinococcus granulosus and its capability to persist in the human organism by causing serious medical and economical damage makes this parasite popular in terms of diagnosis and treatment implementation. Besides the liver as the primary target organ for this parasite, cases of secondary peritoneal hydatidosis are reported. Although rarely, they present with unusual abdominal symptoms with a bizarre presentation on abdominal ultrasound and Computerized Tomography scans.

Background: Due to the global digitalization, implementation of digital elements into daily work can support physiotherapists' work but may also pose some challenges. Only little is known about physiotherapists' attitude towards digitalization. This study primarily aimed to analyze physiotherapists' attitude towards digitalization and to what extend digital tools have been implemented into their daily work.

Background: Matrix-associated autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) is a well-established treatment for cartilage defects. High-level evidence at midterm follow-up is limited, especially for ACI using spheroids (spherical aggregates of ex vivo expanded human autologous chondrocytes and self-synthesized extracellular matrix).
Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of 3-dimensional matrix-associated ACI using spheroids to treat medium to large cartilage defects on different locations in the knee joint (patella, trochlea, and femoral condyle) at 5-year follow-up.

Low - grade chondrosarcomas are primary malignant bone tumors that are resistant to chemo- and radiotherapy and are treated surgically. Sacral localization makes surgical resection technically difficult due to position, anatomic structures involved, and large tumor size at detection. The risk of complications is high.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells or medicinal signaling cells (MSC)-based therapy holds promise as a beneficial strategy for treating knee OA (osteoarthritis), but there is no standardized protocols nor mechanistic understanding. In order to gain a better insight into the human MSC from adipose tissue applied for autologous OA treatment, we performed extensive comparative immunophenotyping of the stromal vascular fraction from lipoaspirate or microfragmented lipoaspirates by polychromatic flow cytometry and investigated the cellular components considered responsible for cartilage regeneration. We found an enrichment of the regenerative cellular niche of the clinically applied microfragmented stromal vascular fraction.

Osteoarthritis is a common cause of disability worldwide. Although commonly referred to as a disease of the joint cartilage, osteoarthritis affects all joint tissues equally. The pathogenesis of this degenerative process is not completely understood; however, a low-grade inflammation leading to an imbalance between anabolic and katabolic processes is a well-established factor.

Penile cancer is a rare cancer in Western countries, but is more common in parts of the developing world. Usually, it is associated with older uncircumcised men who have a long-term phymotic preputium. Here, we report a case of penile cancer in a circumcised patient, occurring 3 months after a tick bite on the head of the penis.

Neutral coronal leg alignment is known to be important for postoperative outcome in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Customized individually made implants (CIM) instrumented with patient-specific cutting guides are an innovation aiming to increase the precision and reliability of implant positioning and reconstruction of leg alignment. We aimed to compare reconstruction of the hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA) of the novel CIM system iTotal™ CR G2 (ConforMIS Inc.

Osteoarthritis is the most common musculoskeletal progressive disease, with the knee as the most commonly affected joint in the human body. While several new medications are still under research, many symptomatic therapy options, such as analgesics (opioid and non-opioid), nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs, symptomatic slow-acting drugs in osteoarthritis, and preparations for topical administration, are being used, with a diverse clinical response and inconsistent conclusions across various professional societies guidelines. The concept of pharmacogenomic-guided therapy, which lies on principles of the right medication for the right patient in the right dose at the right time, can significantly increase the patient's response to symptom relief therapy in knee osteoarthritis.

The principles of fracture management in patients with multiple injuries continue to be of crucial importance. Early treatment of unstable polytraumatized patients with head, chest, abdomen or pelvic injuries, with blood loss followed by immediate fracture fixation (Early Total Care -ETC) may be associated with secondary life threatening posttraumatic systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Development of SIRS is typically a function of the type and severity of the initial injury (the "first hit").

Debonding of the porous coating from the acetabular component of a total hip endoprosthesis is a rare complication. Revision total hip arthroplasty for an unstable acetabular component with a debonded porous coating strongly fixed to the bone can be challenging, especially in elderly patients of poor overall health. In such patients, revision procedures should be as simple and safe as possible.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of product dose in autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) for the treatment of full-thickness cartilage defects of the knee and to assess its influence on clinical and morphological mid-term outcome.
Methods: Seventy-five patients were included in this single-blind, randomised, prospective, controlled clinical trial. Patients were assigned randomly to three different dose groups [low (3-7 spheroids/cm), medium (10-30 spheroids/cm), or high (40-70 spheroids/cm)] and assessed using standardised clinical and morphological scoring systems (KOOS, IKDC, MOCART) for 4 years following the intervention.

Prevailing over in rotationally unstable pelvic fractures, acetabular fractures or hip dislocations, superior gluteal artery pseudo aneurysm imperceptibly could be found after blunt force trauma of the pelvic region. We present a case of superior gluteal artery pseudo aneurysm after blunt force trauma that became gradually symptomatic in two months following the prime malevolence. Non-resolving gluteal hematoma presented two months after the incident, disregarding standard treatment methods led the diagnosis to plausible entity of pseudo aneurysm.

Introduction: Modern health systems have to respond to a wide variety of catastrophic scenarios, from natural disasters to terror attacks. It is reasonable to already start educational approaches for physicians in this field at medical school level. An approach combining civilian disaster medicine and military deployment medicine can be beneficial both for clinical strategies and in undergraduate teaching.

Introduction: New implant designs like the Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation (PFNA) were developed to reduce failure rates in unstable pertrochanteric fractures in the elderly. Standardized implant augmentation with up to 6 mL of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cement has been introduced to enhance implant anchorage by increasing the implant-bone interface in osteoporotic bone conditions. Biomechanically, loads to failure were significantly higher with augmentation.
