Introduction: Differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTCs) are treated with (near-)total thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy. Recently, the use of highly sensitive thyroglobulin (hsTg) assays has simplified DTC follow-up and improved patients' quality of life. More limited approaches are currently applied in low-risk patients requiring interpretations of Tg results in different clinical scenarios.

In recent years, a large number of articles have described the endocrine-related adverse events associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, especially affecting the thyroid. A 37-year-old man affected by nasopharyngeal carcinoma (stage IVb) underwent serial 18F-FDG PET/CT evaluations during treatment with nivolumab (480 mg every 4 weeks) after first-line chemoradiotherapy. The patient had no history of thyroid disease and before starting immunotherapy the thyroid-stimulating hormone value was normal at 0.

Background: In the context of nuclear medicine and theranostics, integrin-related research and development was, for most of the time, focused predominantly on 'RGD peptides' and the subtype αvβ3-integrin. However, there are no less than 24 known integrins, and peptides without the RGD sequence as well as non-peptidic ligands play an equally important role as selective integrin ligands. On the other hand, multimerization is a well-established method to increase the avidity of binding structures, but multimeric radiopharmaceuticals have not made their way into clinics yet.

Purpose: To develop a new probe for the αvβ6-integrin and assess its potential for PET imaging of carcinomas.
Methods: Ga-68-Trivehexin was synthesized by trimerization of the optimized αvβ6-integrin selective cyclic nonapeptide Tyr2 (sequence: c[YRGDLAYp(NMe)K]) on the TRAP chelator core, followed by automated labeling with Ga-68. The tracer was characterized by ELISA for activities towards integrin subtypes αvβ6, αvβ8, αvβ3, and α5β1, as well as by cell binding assays on H2009 (αvβ6-positive) and MDA-MB-231 (αvβ6-negative) cells.

Despite follicular lymphoma (FL) is frequently characterized by a moderate increase of glucose metabolism, PET/CT examinations provides valuable information for staging and response assessment of the disease. The aim of the study was to assess and compare the diagnostic performance of PET/ldCT and PET/ceCT, respectively, in evaluating FL patients at the end of treatment. Fifty FL consecutive patients who underwent end-of-therapy PET/CT with both ldCT and ceCT were analyzed.

Purpose: As ~25% of cytologically indeterminate thyroid nodules harbour malignancy, diagnostic lobectomy is still performed in many cases. FDG PET/CT rules out malignancy in visually negative nodules; however, none of the currently available interpretation criteria differentiates malignant from benign FDG-avid nodules. We evaluated the ability of PET metrics and radiomics features (RFs) to predict final diagnosis of FDG-avid cytologically indeterminate thyroid nodules.

The 5-HT receptor (R) is known to modulate dopamine (DA) release in the mammalian brain. Altanserin (ALT) and 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine (DOI) act as 5-HTR antagonist and agonist, respectively. In the present study, we assessed the effects of ALT and DOI on motor and exploratory behaviors and on DR binding in the rat brain with imaging methods.

Recently, several articles reported incidental findings at 2-[F]FDG PET/CT in patients who have received COVID-19 vaccinations, including hypermetabolic axillary lymph nodes (HALNs) ipsilateral to the COVID-19 vaccine injection site which may cause diagnostic dilemmas. The aim of our work was to calculate the prevalence of this finding. A comprehensive computer literature search of PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane library databases was performed to identify recently published articles that investigated the prevalence of HALNs detected by 2-[F]FDG PET/CT after COVID-19 vaccination.

Translational photopharmacological applications are limited through irradiation by light showing wavelengths within the bio-optical window. To achieve sufficient tissue penetration, using wavelengths >500 nm is mandatory. Nevertheless, the majority of photopharmacological compounds respond to irradiation with more energetic UV light, which shows only a minor depth of tissue penetration in the µm range.

Background: The chemokine receptor CXCR4 is frequently overexpressed and associated with adverse prognosis in most hematopoietic malignancies and solid cancers. Recently, CXCR4 molecular imaging using the CXCR4-specific positron emission tomography (PET) tracer Pentixafor ([Ga]Pentixafor) has become a well-established method to non-invasively measure CXCR4 expression in vivo. In previous Pentixafor imaging studies, highly variable CXCR4 tracer uptake to the spleen was observed.

In the past decade, the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) underwent a paradigm shift toward the use of risk stratification with the goal of maximizing the benefit and minimizing the morbidity of radioiodine (I) therapy. I therapy is guided by information derived from surgical histopathology, molecular markers, postoperative diagnostic radioiodine scintigraphy, and thyroglobulin levels. I is used for diagnostic imaging and therapy of DTC based on physiologic sodium-iodine symporter expression in normal and neoplastic thyroid tissue.

Objectives: There is increasing interest regarding the relationship between serum levels of free triiodothyronine (fT3) and outcomes of COronaVIrus Disease-19 (COVID-19) patients. As several recent reports have described a worse prognosis in patients with low fT3 levels, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the prognostic role of fT3 serum levels in patients with COVID-19 as this information could be clinically relevant for the management of these patients.
Methods: The methodology was registered in the (PROSPERO) database under the protocol number CRD42021260952.

Aims: In contrast to all prior AJCC/TNM classifications for differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) the 8th edition does not take minimal extrathyroidal extension (M-ETE) into consideration for local tumor staging. We therefore aimed to retrospectively assess the specific impact of M-ETE on the outcome of M-ETE patients treated in our clinic.
Methods: DTC patients with M-ETE and a follow-up time of ≥ 5 years were included and matched with an identical number of patients without M-ETE, but with equal histopathological tumor subtype and size.

Aim: The risk of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) recurrence is widely evaluated according to the 2015 ATA Risk Stratification System. Topography of malignant nodules has been previously reported as an additional risk factor but is not included in the ATA system. Thus, our study aimed to evaluate the relationship between DTC topography and response to initial therapy.

After exclusion of exogenous iodine overload, radioiodine uptake (RAIU) testing with I or I enables the accurate evaluation and quantification of iodine uptake and kinetics within thyroid cells. In addition, scintigraphic evaluation with I or Tc-pertechnetate (Tc04-) provides the topographic distribution of thyroid cell activity and allows the detection and localization of ectopic thyroid tissue. Destructive thyrotoxicosis is characterized by abolished or reduced uptake whereas productive thyrotoxicosis (i.

Invasive nonfunctioning pituitary tumors (NFPTs) are non-resectable neoplasms associated with frequent relapse and significant comorbidities. Current treatments, including somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2)-directed somatostatin analogs (SSAs), often fail against NFPTs. Thus, identifying effective therapies is clinically relevant.

Objective: The timely management of vascular graft/endograft infection (VGEI) is crucial to a favourable outcome, yet can be challenging as there is no validated gold standard diagnostic test. Recently, a new case definition has been proposed by the Management of Aortic Graft Infection Collaboration (MAGIC) to close the diagnostic gap. The aim of this study was to validate the MAGIC criteria as a suggested diagnostic standard for the diagnosis of suspected VGEI in the prospective Vascular Graft Cohort study (VASGRA).

Purpose: Repeat surgery in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is associated with an increased risk of complications and failure. This stresses the need for optimized strategies to accurately localize a parathyroid adenoma before repeat surgery is performed. However, evidence on the extent of required diagnostics for a structured approach is sparse.
