Since the 1940s, 131-I radioiodine therapy (RIT) has been the primary treatment for metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Approximately half of these patients respond favorably to RIT, achieving partial or complete remission or maintaining long-term stable disease, while the other half develop radioiodine-refractory DTC (RAI-R DTC). The main genomic alteration involved in radioiodine resistance is the activated mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, which results in the loss of sodium iodide symporters (NIS).

Background: Treatment planning in radiation therapy (RT) is performed on image sets acquired with commercial x-ray computed tomography (CT) scanners. Considering an increased frequency of verification scans for adaptive RT and the advent of alternatives to x-ray CTs, there is a need to review the requirements for image sets used in RT planning.
Purpose: This study aims to derive the required image quality (IQ) for the computation of the dose distribution in proton therapy (PT) regarding spatial resolution and the combination of spatial resolution and noise.

Purpose: Periprosthetic loosening is a major complication after total hip and knee arthroplasty. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential to choose the right therapeutic path and to avoid further complications. The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of Gallium-Zoledronate ([Ga]Ga-DOTA) PET/CT in detecting periprosthetic loosening in total hip (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Background And Objective: The prognostic value of declining prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels is under investigation in patients with prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-positive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) receiving PSMA-targeted radioligand therapy with [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 (Lu-PSMA-617). This post hoc analysis of the phase 3 VISION trial aimed to evaluate associations between PSA decline and clinical and patient-reported outcomes in patients receiving Lu-PSMA-617.
Methods: Of 831 enrolled patients with PSMA-positive progressive mCRPC treated previously with one or more androgen receptor pathway inhibitors and one to two taxanes, 551 were randomised to Lu-PSMA-617 plus protocol-permitted standard of care (SoC).

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the prognostic significance of various previously reported PSMA-PET parameters in patients undergoing Lu-PSMA radioligand therapy (RLT). While individual studies have investigated the prognostic value of one or few of these factors, comprehensive analyses are rare.
Methods: Data of 82 patients undergoing Lu-PSMA-radiologand-therapy (RLT) were analyzed.

Purpose: For understanding the neurochemical mechanism of neuropsychiatric conditions associated with cognitive deficits it is of major relevance to elucidate the influence of serotonin (5-HT) agonists and antagonists on memory function as well dopamine (DA) and 5-HT release and metabolism. In the present study, we assessed the effects of the 5-HT receptor agonist 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine (DOI) and the 5-HT receptor altanserin (ALT) on object and place recognition memory and cerebral neurotransmitters and metabolites in the rat.
Methods: Rats underwent a 5-min exploration trial in an open field with two identical objects.

Introduction: Molecular imaging of thyroid and parathyroid diseases has changed in recent years due to the introduction of new radiopharmaceuticals and new imaging techniques. Accordingly, we provided an clinicians-oriented overview of such techniques and their indications.
Areas Covered: A review of the literature was performed in the PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus without time or language restrictions through the use of one or more fitting search criteria and terms as well as through screening of references in relevant selected papers.

Background: In recent years, nuclear medicine imaging methods have proven to be of paramount importance in a wide variety of diseases, particularly in oncology, where they are crucial for assessing the extent of disease when conventional methods fall short. Moreover, nuclear imaging modalities are able to better characterize lesions using target agents related to specific pathways (e.g.

Since its clinical introduction in May 2011, prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-PET/computed tomography has quickly gained worldwide recognition as a significant breakthrough in prostate cancer diagnostics. In the meantime, several new PSMA radioligands for PET imaging have been introduced into routine clinical practice. This article aims to introduce the most commonly used tracers and their key areas of application.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is characterized by T cell infiltration and frequently by the presence of anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAbs). The role of cellular immunity and of TbAbs in this context is a matter of debate. The aim of our study was to correlate the presence of TgAbs, tumor epitope-specific T cells and the clinical outcome of PTC patients.

Nuclei detection and segmentation in hematoxylin and eosin-stained (H&E) tissue images are important clinical tasks and crucial for a wide range of applications. However, it is a challenging task due to nuclei variances in staining and size, overlapping boundaries, and nuclei clustering. While convolutional neural networks have been extensively used for this task, we explore the potential of Transformer-based networks in combination with large scale pre-training in this domain.

Molecular imaging is pivotal in evaluating and managing patients with different thyroid cancer histotypes. The existing, pathology-based, risk stratification systems can be usefully refined, by incorporating tumor-specific molecular and molecular imaging biomarkers with theranostic value, allowing patient-specific treatment decisions. Molecular imaging with different radioactive iodine isotopes (ie, I, I, I) is a central component of differentiated carcinoma (DTC)'s risk stratification while [F]F-fluorodeoxyglucose ([F]FDG) PET/CT is interrogated about disease aggressiveness and presence of distant metastases.

The term noninvasive tumor with a follicular growth pattern and nuclear features of papillary thyroid cancer (NIFTP) is used to describe a tumor currently considered as a pre-malignant lesion for which a conservative therapeutic approach (i.e., lobectomy without radioiodine therapy) is strongly suggested.

Purpose: Radioiodine (RAI) is a well-established first-line therapy for autonomously functioning thyroid nodules (AFTN). Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure that has been proposed as an alternative treatment option for hyperthyroidism caused by AFTN. Although RFA has been shown to be useful for reducing nodule volume and improving TSH levels in AFTN, no comprehensive comparative clinical studies have been proposed to evaluate the overall response to RFA treatment.

Thyroid nodules are common findings, particularly in iodine-deficient regions. Our paper aims to revise different diagnostic tools available in clinical thyroidology and propose their rational integration. We will elaborate on the pros and cons of thyroid ultrasound (US) and its scoring systems, thyroid scintigraphy, fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), molecular imaging, and artificial intelligence (AI).
