Adenomyosis is an intricate pathological condition that negatively impacts the uterus. It is closely related to the more well-known endometriosis, with which it shares parallels in terms of diagnosis, therapy, and both microscopic and macroscopic features. The purpose of this narrative review is to give a clear univocal definition and outlook on the different, patient-adapted, surgical treatments.

Migraine is a prevalent neurological disorder that significantly impacts the quality of life for affected individuals. The pathogenesis behind migraines is not yet fully understood, but hormonal changes, especially fluctuations in, estrogen and progesterone levels, have a significant role in the susceptibility of women to migraines. Pregnancy introduces a unique set of challenges for women who experience migraines, as they must navigate the complexities of managing their condition while safeguarding the health of both them and their unborn child.

Isolated deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) of sacral nerve roots or major pelvic nerves, including the sciatic nerve, is considered to be extremely rare. Due to the overlap with sciatica symptoms, the diagnosis of sciatica DIE is difficult yet crucial, as it results in permanent neural damage if left untreated. We report a case of a 45-year-old woman who experienced a three-year-long and recently exacerbating pain in her right leg, accompanied by a tingling sensation and weakness in her right leg and foot, with difficulty walking.

A crucial requirement for metastasis formation in ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) is the disruption of the protective peritoneal mesothelium. Using co-culture systems of primary human cells, we discovered that tumor-associated NK cells induce TRAIL-dependent apoptosis in mesothelial cells via death receptors DR4 and DR5 upon encounter with activated T cells. Upregulation of TRAIL expression in NK cells concomitant with enhanced cytotoxicity toward mesothelial cells was driven predominantly by T-cell-derived TNFα, as shown by affinity proteomics-based analysis of the T cell secretome in conjunction with functional studies.

Background: Smoking, alcohol abuse, and hypertension are - among others, potential risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. These risk factors generate oxidative stress and cause oxidative stress-induced DNA damage, resulting in cellular senescence and senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). The SASP factors in feed-forward response exacerbate inflammation and cause tissue remodeling, resulting in atherosclerotic plaque formation and rupture.

In recent years, a number of new therapies have led to advances in the treatment of patients with advanced breast carcinoma. These substances are mainly CDK4/6 inhibitors and other substances that can overcome endocrine resistance, oral selective estrogen receptor degraders, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), and PARP inhibitors. This review summarizes and evaluates the latest study results that have been published in recent months.

Stroke during pregnancy and preeclampsia are two distinct but interrelated medical conditions, sharing a common denominator-blood control failure. Along with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypercoagulability, hypertension is undoubtedly a major risk factor associated with stroke. Even though men have higher age-specific stroke rates, women are facing higher life-long stroke risk, primarily due to longer life expectancy.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the current opinion on the routes of hysterectomy amongst the members of the International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (ISGE), as well as the perceptions of potential barriers that inhibit gynaecologists from offering a minimally invasive hysterectomies (MIHs) to their patients.
Study Design: An anonymous, electronic survey was designed, including the questions about the surgeon location and length of gynaecological practice, preferred approach to hysterectomy, approximate number of surgical cases performed during the year preceding the survey (2021), and potential barriers and contraindications to performing MIHs. It was validated by 12 practicing gynaecologists.

Background: This study explores sex-specific differences in pain localization using pain drawings in female patients with endometriosis. Traditional human body outlines (HBOs) used for pain drawings are often viewed as male, making accurate pain assessment difficult. The study aims to compare pain localization and extent between patients presented with sexless and female HBOs.

Introduction: We analyzed whether there were differences between people with and without migration history in their implementation of self-help measures before they accessed the services of an emergency department and if there was an association between self-help measures and an appropriate utilization of emergency departments.
Methods: The data basis of this secondary analysis is the EUMaR study, which was conducted from July 2018 to July 2019 and aimed to identify causes contributing to inappropriate and frequent use of emergency departments by migrants. Our study aimed to analyze the differences in self-help measures carried out by the population groups using several multiple logistic regressions.

Purpose: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine, metabolic, and reproductive disorder which, according to the Rotterdam criteria, affects up to 24% of women of childbearing age. Although the prevalence of infertility in this subpopulation of women is high, the optimal treatment has not been fully established yet. Insulin resistance is considered to be an important mechanism involved in the development of PCOS; hence, the aim of this narrative review is to present an overview of the current pharmacological insulin-sensitizing treatment modalities for infertile women with PCOS.

Triple-negative breast cancer is an aggressive subtype of breast cancer that has a poor five-year survival rate. The tumor's extracellular matrix is a major compartment of its microenvironment and influences the proliferation, migration and the formation of metastases. The study of such dependencies requires methods to analyze the tumor matrix in its native form.

Caesarean section is a challenging intervention in patients treated with dual antiplatelet therapy. We present a case of a 32-year-old pregnant woman experiencing large acute myocardial infarction (MI) of the anterolateral wall, complicated by cardiogenic shock in the 38th week of pregnancy, and treated with drug-eluting stent implantation and dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) consisting of aspirin and ticagrelor. Less than 24 h after the MI delivery started, an urgent Caesarean section was indicated.

Purpose: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine-reproductive disease linked not just to infertility but also to serious comorbidities. There is a reported association between low vitamin D levels and multiple health conditions including PCOS. This narrative review aims to analyze the role of vitamin D in PCOS development, use of the vitamin D in the treatment of PCOS, and the molecular basis of these observations.
