Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to a series of pathological reactions. The basis is a changed proinflammatory activated immune system, which results in more pronounced oxidative stress, disturbed function of proteolysis and cell apoptosis. These processes are crucial in the development of the disease because their dysfunctional activities cause the progression of the disease.

Up to 70-80% of women of reproductive age may be affected with the most common uterine tumors, known as fibroids or myomas. These benign tumors are the second most prevalent cause of surgery among premenopausal women. Predictions show that the occurrence of myomas in pregnancy will increase, and that the risk of having myomas during pregnancy increases with advanced maternal age.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a risk factor for both mother and fetus/neonate during and after the pregnancy. Inconsistent protocols and cumbersome screening procedures warrant the search for new and easily accessible biomarkers. We investigated a potential of serum N-glycome to differentiate between healthy pregnant women (n = 49) and women with GDM (n = 53) using a lectin-based microarray and studied the correlation between the obtained data and parameters of glucose and lipid metabolism.

Objective: Fetuses with abnormal karyotypes often exhibit distinctive ultrasonographic markers, including major anomalies and "soft" markers, indicating potential chromosomal issues. A crucial consideration arises when a single fetal anomaly is detected, raising the question of whether karyotyping is warranted, given the associated procedural risks. Our objective was to establish correlations between single fetal anomalies identified through ultrasound and chromosomal abnormalities.

Purpose: In order to ensure that drug administration is safe during pregnancy, it is crucial to have the possibility to predict the placental permeability of drugs in humans. The experimental method which is most widely used for the said purpose is in vitro human placental perfusion, though the approach is highly expensive and time consuming. Quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modeling represents a powerful tool for the assessment of the drug placental transfer, and can be successfully employed to be an alternative in in vitro experiments.
