Understanding the associations between adequate sleep, performance and health outcomes is vital, yet a major limitation in the design and interpretation of studies of sleep and performance is the variability of subjective and objective markers used to assess sleep quality. The aim of this scoping review is to investigate how various physiological signals recorded during sleep or wakefulness relate to objective measures of cognitive or physical performance and subjectively perceived sleep quality to inform conceptual understanding of the elusive, amorphous, and multi-dimensional construct of sleep quality. We also aimed to suggest priorities for future areas of research in sleep quality and performance.

The anticancer agent doxorubicin(dox) has been widely used in the treatment of a variety of hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Despite doxorubicin's efficiency in killing tumor cells, severe damage to healthy tissues, along with cardiotoxicity, limits its clinical use. To overcome these adverse side effects, improve patient safety, and enhance therapeutic efficacy, we have designed a thermally responsive biopolymer doxorubicin carrier that can be specifically targeted to tumor tissue by locally applying mild hyperthermia (41 °C).

Although doxorubicin (dox), an anthracycline antibiotic, is widely used and effective in treating cancer, its treatment efficiency is limited by low blood plasma solubility, poor pharmacokinetics, and adverse side effects, including irreversible cardiotoxicity. Moreover, cancer cells often develop drug resistance over time, which decreases the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs, including dox. In this study, we examine a macromolecular drug delivery system for its ability to specifically deliver doxorubicin to cancer cells with and without drug resistance.

Background & Aims: Biliary disease is associated with a proliferative/fibrogenic ductular reaction (DR). p300 is an epigenetic regulator that acetylates lysine 27 on histone 3 (H3K27ac) and is activated during fibrosis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are aberrantly expressed in cholangiopathies, but little is known about how they recruit epigenetic complexes and regulate DR.

Study Objectives: Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and other sleep disturbances are frequent in leucine-rich, glioma inactivated protein 1-IgG (LGI1) and contactin-associated protein 2-IgG (CASPR2) autoimmunity, yet polysomnographic analyses of these disorders remain limited. We aimed to characterize clinical presentations and analyze polysomnographic manifestations, especially quantitative REM sleep without atonia (RSWA) in LGI1/CASPR2-IgG seropositive (LGI/CASPR2+) patients.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical and polysomnographic features and quantitative RSWA between LGI1+/CASPR2+ patients and age-sex matched controls.

Department of Physical Therapy, College of Applied Health Sciences, University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago (Dr Ozemek); and Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Division of Preventive Cardiology, Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota (Dr Squires).

Early outpatient (ECR) and maintenance cardiac rehabilitation (MCR) programs are essential, evidence-based services that have received unequivocal endorsement by national and international professional organizations. However, the latest data characterizing ECR enrollment and adherence fell well short of what would be expected for a therapy that has accumulated decades of empirical evidence touting the associated physiologic, physical, psychosocial, and financial benefits. Although national participation levels have remained stagnant, a series of recent publications showcase effective strategies that could bolster both ECR enrollment and adherence levels at the institutional level.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic fibroinflammatory disease of the biliary tract characterized by cellular senescence and periportal fibrogenesis. Specific disease features that are cell intrinsic and either genetically or epigenetically mediated remain unclear due in part to a lack of appropriate, patient-specific, in vitro models. Recently, our group developed systems to create induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cholangiocytes (iDCs) and biliary epithelial organoids (cholangioids).
