Background: The surgical treatment of radial head fractures like Mason type III comminuted radial head fractures is challenging and controversial. Whether to use open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or radial head arthroplasty (RHA) as treatment methods is under constant debate.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical and radiographic mid- to long-term results of 42 patients with a mean follow-up time of 4.

Background: In contrast to infection or mechanical issues joint replacement failure following inflammatory adverse reactions is poorly understood.
Objective: To assess the association of IL-1β polymorphisms and history of allergy with aseptic non-mechanical complications following arthroplasty.
Methods: In 102 patients with aseptic non-mechanically caused symptomatic knee or hip arthroplasty (SA) and 93 patients with asymptomatic arthroplasty (AA) questionnaire-based history, patch test with at least standard series, lymphocyte transformation test (LTT) with nickel, cobalt and chromium and interleukin-1 polymorphism analysis were done.

Background: Controversy exists on whether gender-specific anatomic differences in the human knee have to be taken into account by gender-specific design in total knee replacement (TKR). We evaluated total knees that were implanted in both genders.
Objective: This paper will describe the influence of gender on the outcome after a unisex total knee arthroplasty.

Introduction: Blasting techniques using corundum to create rough surfaces are used in many different processes for the surface treatment of hip implants. Recent evidence points an association between residual particles and early loosenings in the sense of third-body wear.
Materials And Method: The surfaces of five unused, original-packaged CLS stems and ARR-Titan supporting rings, respectively, were compared with five explanted CLS stems and ARR-Titan supporting rings.

Introduction: As primary total hip replacements (THRs) become more common in older patients and younger, physically active patients, the number of revision arthroplasties will also increase. Femoral bone loss, joint instability and possible infections are a challenge for a surgeon performing revision arthroplasty of the hip. The severe proximal femoral bone loss indicates the use of revision stems with a distal fixation.
