The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) is a classic test used to assess episodic verbal memory in research and clinical practice. We aimed to adapt the RAVLT materials into Russian, provide performance norms across the adult lifespan for the Russian adaptation, and develop a mobile application for automated RAVLT administration across languages. We created three psycholinguistically matched alternative versions of the RAVLT materials in Russian and incorporated them into a new tablet application.

Numerous brain imaging studies have reported white matter alterations in schizophrenia, but the lipidome analysis of the corresponding tissue remains incomplete. In this study, we investigated the lipidome composition of six subcortical white matter regions corresponding to major axonal tracks in both control subjects and schizophrenia patients. All six regions exhibited a consistent pattern of quantitative lipidome alterations in schizophrenia, involving myelin-forming and mitochondria associated lipid classes.

Objective: To evaluate the association of polymorphisms in the gene cluster on chromosome 6 with cognitive functions in patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and healthy controls.
Material And Methods: Patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (=216) and healthy people without a family history of mental disorders (=240) completed a battery of cognitive tests, from which individual indices of cognitive functioning were derived. Associations of the cognitive index with 22 polymorphisms in the genes were assessed using ANCOVA controlling for sex, age, genetic structure of the sample, and polygenic risk scores of schizophrenia and intelligence.

Prenatal stress (PS) affects the development and functioning of the central nervous system, but the exact mechanisms underpinning this effect have not been pinpointed yet. A promising model of PS is one based on chronic exposure of pregnant rodents to variable-frequency ultrasound (US PS), as it mimics the PS with a psychic nature that most adequately captures the human stressors in modern society. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of US PS on the brain neurotransmitter, neuropeptide, and neurotrophic systems of newborn Wistar rats.

: Electroencephalography (EEG) is considered a standard but powerful tool for the diagnosis of neurological and psychiatric diseases. With modern imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and magnetoencephalography (MEG), source localization can be improved, especially with low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (LORETA). The aim of this review is to explore the variety of modern techniques with emphasis on the efficacy of LORETA in detecting brain activity patterns in schizophrenia.

Given the high growth rates of cognitive decline among the elderly population and the lack of effective etiological treatments, early diagnosis of cognitive impairment progression is an imperative task for modern science and medicine. It is of particular interest to identify predictors of an unfavorable subsequent course of cognitive disorders, specifically, rapid progression. Our study assessed the informative role of various risk factors on the dynamics of cognitive impairment among mild cognitive impairment (MCI) patients.

Multiple clinical trials have reported favorable outcomes after drug-coated balloon therapy for peripheral artery disease in above-the-knee and below-the-knee lesions and in both de novo and in-stent restenosis. However, there are still insufficient data to identify and tackle the risk factors associated with a higher risk of restenosis, which is the primary concern for patients who are treated with an endovascular approach. A modern armamentarium, which includes improved lesion preparation techniques such as plaque modification balloons, mechanical atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy, and imaging, is crucial for obtaining better long-term clinical outcomes.

Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a rare autoinflammatory disease characterized by nonspecific symptoms such as fever, maculopapular rash, and arthralgias. The exact etiology and pathogenesis remain unclear despite advancements in medical science. Diagnosis is typically established using the Yamaguchi criteria, which include a negative antinuclear antibody (ANA) test as one of the minor criteria.

Endovascular interventions and diagnostic examinations using iodinated contrast media (ICM) are standard of care in current vascular medicine. Although ICM use is generally considered safe, it may be associated with adverse reactions, vary from minor disturbances to rare, but severe life-threatening complications. This position paper of European Society of Vascular Medicine integrates current knowledge and summarizes the key information related to the use of intravascular ICM, serving as recommendation on prevention and management of acute, late, and very late adverse reactions.

Continuous advances in the field of interventional cardiology have led to the development of drug-coated balloons (DCB). These represent a promising device for overcoming the well-known limitations of traditional metallic stents, which are associated with a persistent yearly increased risk of adverse events. This technology has the ability to homogeneously transfer the drug into the vessel wall in the absence of a permanent prosthesis implanted in the coronary vessel.

Lipids are a crucial component of the human brain, serving important structural and functional roles. They are involved in cell function, myelination of neuronal projections, neurotransmission, neural plasticity, energy metabolism, and neuroinflammation. Despite their significance, the role of lipids in the development of mental disorders has not been well understood.
