Pancreatic cancer is a devastating malignancy in great need of new and more effective treatment approaches. In recent years, studies have indicated that nutritional interventions, particularly nutraceuticals, may provide novel avenues to modulate cancer progression. Here, our study characterizes the impact of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), as a nutraceutical intervention in pancreatic cancer using a genetically engineered mouse model driven by KrasG12D and Trp53R172H.

Introduction: Disease recurrence in patients with the early hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) breast tumor subtype is particularly challenging to manage due to its complex and very heterogeneous biological nature. Namely, due to primary and secondary resistance, one-quarter of patients with early-stage disease will experience disease recurrence. This variability in the timing of recurrence highlights the need to better identify key biomarkers that could predict therapeutic outcomes and guide personalized treatment strategies for these patients.

Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most prevalent sustained cardiac arrhythmia, is intricately linked with atrial functional tricuspid regurgitation (AFTR), a condition distinguished from ventricular functional tricuspid regurgitation by its unique pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical implications. This review article delves into the multifaceted aspects of AFTR, exploring its epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnostic evaluation, and management strategies. Further, we elucidate the mechanisms underlying AFTR, including tricuspid annular dilatation, right atrial enlargement, and dysfunction, which collectively contribute to the development of tricuspid regurgitation in the absence of significant pulmonary hypertension or left-sided heart disease.

To evaluate the combined relationship between ischemia, retinal fluid, and layer thickness measurements with visual acuity (VA) outcomes in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO). Swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT) data were used to assess retinal layer thickness and quantify intraretinal fluid (IRF) and subretinal fluid (SRF) using a deep learning-based, macular fluid segmentation algorithm for treatment-naïve eyes diagnosed with visual impairment resulting from central RVO (CRVO) or branch RVO (BRVO). Patients received 3 loading doses of 2 mg intravitreal aflibercept injections and were then put on a treat-and-extend regimen.

Introduction: Acromegaly is a disease characterized by enhanced bone turnover with persistently high vertebral fracture risk. Sclerostin is a glycoprotein, which acts as an inhibitor of bone formation and activates osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. The osteoprotegerin (OPG)/receptor activator for the nuclear factor κ B ligand (RANK-L) system is crucial for controlling bone metabolism.

Background: It is still unknown if the double-femoral tunnel technique (Arciero [ARC]) provides better stability as compared with the single-femoral tunnel technique (modified Larson [LAR]) in posterolateral corner reconstruction. The ideal angle of fixation of the popliteofibular strand in ARC is also unknown.
Hypotheses: The ARC provides greater external rotation (ER) stability than the LAR (hypothesis 1); there is no difference in varus rotation (VR) stability between LAR and ARC (hypothesis 2); and femoral fixation of the popliteofibular strand at 60° during the ARC leads to greater ER stability than fixation at 30° or 90° of knee flexion (hypothesis 3).

: While it is generally assumed that common neurobehavioral assessments, such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV), function similarly in clinical and non-clinical populations, this has not been validated in adults with congenital heart disease (CHD). In this study, we examined the latent factor structure of the WAIS-IV in adults with d-transposition of the great arteries (d-TGA) who participated in the Boston Circulatory Arrest Study. : The WAIS-IV was administered as part of a larger assessment battery.
