Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated outcomes of lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) placement in patients with surgically altered anatomy (SAA), which is not well-documented in existing literature, involving 270 patients across 25 tertiary care centers up to November 2023.
  • - Technical success of the procedures was very high at 98%, with clinical success at 97%, although there was a notable adverse event rate of 12%, with various degrees of severity recorded.
  • - The results suggest that while LAMS placement in SAA is effective, due to the risk of complications, these procedures should only be performed by experienced endoscopists in specialized centers.

[Value of evoked somatosensory potentials of the facial nerve].

Acta Otorhinolaryngol Belg

May 1992

Unité d'explorations électrophysiologiques du système nerveux, Clin. Univ. St-Luc, Bruxelles.

We assessed the somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) contribution to the evaluation of peripheral pathologies of the facial nerve. SEPs to electrical stimulation of the internal face of the auricle (Ramsay-Hunt zone) were recorded in 8 normal subjects and in 6 patients with unilateral peripheral facial palsy. Significant and reproducible cortical responses were obtained in all normal subjects and to stimulation of the healthy facial nerve in all patients.
