Odors Adsorption in Zeolites Including Natural Clinoptilolite: Theoretical and Experimental Studies.

Materials (Basel)

June 2024

Zeocomplex, Płk. Stanisława Dąbka 17, 30-832 Kraków, Poland.

This publication presents the results of combined theoretical and experimental research for the potential use of natural clinoptilolite zeolite (CLI) as an odor-adsorbing material. In this study of adsorption capacity, CLI of various granulation was used and its modifications were made by ion exchange using Sn and Fe metals to check whether the presence of metals as potential active centers does not lead to catalytic processes and may lead to enhanced absorption of odorous substances through their adsorption on the created metallic forms. Additionally, in order to increase the specific surface area, modifications were made in the form of hierarchization in an acidic environment using hydrochloric acid to also create the hydrogen form of zeolite and thus also check how the material behaves as an adsorbent.

One of the main factors that influences the fertility of cattle in grazing systems in hot tropical climates is heat stress. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of season, breed, hormonal and physiological condition on the quantity and quality of cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) and embryos produced in vitro, from Romosinuano (RM) and Tropical Milking (TM) donors. Three ovum pick-up and in vitro fertilization (OPU-IVF) were performed, one per season: hot dry (HD; 10, 10), hot humid (HH; 9, 9) and fresh dry (FD; 7, 10) in RM and LT donors.

Previous studies on crosslinguistic influence (CLI) on third language (L3) morphosyntactic acquisition have provided support for competing theories about the source(s) of CLI. The present study aimed to test if both L1 and L2 can be the source of CLI, and whether they influence L3 learning in similar or different ways. In particular, we aimed to add to our knowledge of the neural correlates of CLI by conducting an exploratory EEG study to investigate how L1 and L2 CLI affect L3 neural processing.

Article Synopsis
  • The INCORPORATE trial aimed to determine if an invasive approach (routine coronary angiography and revascularization) is better than conservative treatment for patients with treated critical limb ischemia.
  • Conducted as a randomized study, it compared outcomes between patients receiving optimal medical therapy versus those undergoing invasive procedures, measuring myocardial infarction and mortality over one year.
  • Results showed similar rates of heart attacks and death in both groups, but the conservative approach had a trend toward higher major adverse cardiac events, suggesting potential benefits of the invasive strategy for some patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a severe form of peripheral artery disease affecting a significant number of patients, with some unable to receive current treatments.
  • The study used conditional knockout mouse models to investigate the role of endothelial c-Kit signaling in blood vessel formation during hindlimb ischemia, comparing these mice with control groups.
  • Findings revealed that disabling c-Kit and its ligand SCF in endothelial cells led to improved limb blood flow and better endothelial barrier function, highlighting potentially harmful effects of c-Kit signaling in these processes.

Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; Department of Surgery, Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Electronic address:

Introduction: The Best Endovascular versus Best Surgical Therapy in Patients with Critical Limb Ischemia (BEST-CLI) trial results suggest that in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) and adequate single-segment great saphenous vein (SSGSV) by preoperative duplex ultrasonography, a surgical-first treatment strategy is superior to an endovascular-first strategy. However, the utilization of vein mapping prior to endovascular-first revascularization for CLTI in actual clinical practice is not known.

Methods: Data from a multicenter clinical data warehouse (2008-2019) were linked to Medicare claims data for patients undergoing endovascular-first treatment of infra-inguinal CLTI.
