HHV-8 Linked to Kaposi's Sarcoma and Castleman's Disease in HIV-1-infected patient: Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD) are both linked to human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection which most commonly affects people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).  Herein, we describe the case of a 57-year-old patient who has been admitted for fever, night sweats, weight loss, and diffuse lymphadenopathy with abdominal pain. HIV status was confirmed by a positive Western blot test.

Risk of recurrence after discontinuing anticoagulation in patients with COVID-19- associated venous thromboembolism: a prospective multicentre cohort study.

Background: The clinical relevance of recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) after discontinuing anticoagulation in patients with COVID-19-associated VTE remains uncertain. We estimated the incidence rates and mortality of VTE recurrences developing after discontinuing anticoagulation in patients with COVID-19-associated VTE.

Methods: A prospective, multicenter, non-interventional study was conducted between March 25, 2020, and July 26, 2023, including patients who had discontinued anticoagulation after at least 3 months of therapy.

Non-invasive evaluation of mucosal healing by intestinal ultrasound or fecal calprotectin is efficient in Crohn's disease: A cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Endoscopy is still the gold, standard for assessing disease activity in Crohn's disease (CD). Its invasiveness, poor acceptability, and cost limit its use in the era of tight control and treat-to-target management. Fecal calprotectin (FC) and intestinal ultrasound (IUS) are non-invasive alternatives to colonoscopy to assess disease activity.

In cancer patients, comorbidities and co-medications favor the appearance of severe adverse effects which can significantly impact quality of life and treatment effectiveness. Most of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) have been developed with flat oral dosing exposing patients to the risk of poor adherence due to side effects.

Chrono-nutrition and sleep: lessons from the temporal feature of eating patterns in human studies - A systematic scoping review.

An emerging field of research has revealed a bidirectional relationship between sleep and diet, highlighting the potential role of a healthy diet in improving sleep. However, the impact of chrono-nutrition on sleep remains less explored. Here we conducted a systematic scoping review, considering the multiple dimensions of chrono-nutrition, to describe the extent, range, and nature of the existing literature in this area (PROSPERO: CRD42021274637).

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors in cancers: Treatment optimization - Part I.

A multitude of TKI has been developed and approved targeting various oncogenetic alterations. While these have provided improvements in efficacy compared with conventional chemotherapies, resistance to targeted therapies occurs. Mutations in the kinase domain result in the inability of TKI to inactivate the protein kinase.

Comprehensive Genetic Profiling Reveals Frequent Alterations of Driver Genes on the X Chromosome in Extranodal NK/T-cell Lymphoma.

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related neoplasm with male dominance and a poor prognosis. A better understanding of the genetic alterations and their functional roles in ENKTCL could help improve patient stratification and treatments. In this study, we performed a comprehensive genetic analysis of 178 ENKTCL cases to delineate the landscape of mutations, copy number alterations (CNA), and structural variations, identifying 34 driver genes including six previously unappreciated ones, namely, HLA-B, HLA-C, ROBO1, CD58, POT1, and MAP2K1.

Discordance between pain specialists and patients on the perception of dependence on pain medication: A multi-centre cross-sectional study.

Aim: Patients with chronic non-cancer pain are referred to pain centres to improve their pain treatment. The discontinuation of pain medications in case of poor efficacy can be difficult to accept for patients, particularly opioid analgesics. Previous research has described that from the patients' perspective, the psychological relief of a negative effect of chronic pain and withdrawal symptoms of prescription opioids represent drivers of persistent use and first stage of opioid use disorder, despite insufficient pain relief.

Pediatric refractory chronic immune thrombocytopenia: Identification, patients' characteristics, and outcome.

Refractory chronic immune thrombocytopenia (r-cITP) is one of the most challenging situations in chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP). Pediatric r-cITP is inconsistently defined in literature, contributing to the scarcity of data. Moreover, no evidence is available to guide the choice of treatment.

Risk factors for surgery in stricturing small bowel Crohn's disease: A retrospective cohort study from the GETAID pédiatrique.

Objectives: Previous studies have shown rates of surgical resection of up to 41% in stricturing pediatric Crohn's disease (CD). In this retrospective multicenter study, our aims were to identify clinical risk factors and magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) features of small bowel strictures associated with surgery.

Methods: Pediatric patients with symptomatic stricturing small bowel CD (defined as obstructive symptoms or proximal dilatation on MRE) confirmed by MRE between 2010 and 2020 were recruited from 12 French tertiary hospitals.

FOLFIRI Plus Durvalumab With or Without Tremelimumab in Second-Line Treatment of Advanced Gastric or Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma: The PRODIGE 59-FFCD 1707-DURIGAST Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Efficacy of second-line chemotherapy in advanced gastric or gastrooesphageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinoma remains limited.

Ojectives: To determine the efficacy of 1 or 2 immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with FOLFIRI (leucovorin [folinic acid], fluorouracil, and irinotecan) in the treatment of advanced gastric/GEJ adenocarcinoma.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The PRODIGE 59-FFCD 1707-DURIGAST trial is a randomized, multicenter, noncomparative, phase 2 trial, conducted from August 27, 2020, and June 4, 2021, at 37 centers in France that included patients with advanced gastric/GEJ adenocarcinoma who had disease progression after platinum-based first-line chemotherapy.

Sarcopenia and Sarcopenic Obesity and Mortality Among Older People.

Importance: Sarcopenia and obesity are 2 global concerns associated with adverse health outcomes in older people. Evidence on the population-based prevalence of the combination of sarcopenia with obesity (sarcopenic obesity [SO]) and its association with mortality are still limited.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of sarcopenia and SO and their association with all-cause mortality.

Posttraumatic stress disorder 2 months after cesarean delivery: a multicenter prospective study.

Background: The prevalence and risk factors of posttraumatic stress disorder after cesarean delivery, outside high-risk contexts, remain unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to assess posttraumatic stress disorder prevalence and risk factors at 2 months postpartum among a general population of women with cesarean delivery.

Study Design: This was a prospective ancillary cohort study of the Tranexamic Acid for Preventing Postpartum Hemorrhage after Cesarean Delivery (TRAAP2) trial, conducted in 27 French hospitals from 2018 to 2020, enrolling women expected to undergo cesarean delivery before or during labor at ≥34 weeks of gestation.

Sex disparities in cardiogenic shock: Insights from the FRENSHOCK registry.

Background: Cardiogenic shock (CS) is the most severe form of acute heart failure.
