Background: In France, postpartum hemorrhage (blood loss≥500mL in the first 24h postpartum) is the leading direct obstetric cause of maternal mortality. In French practice, PPH is mainly diagnosed by a quantitative assessment of blood loss, performed by subjective methods such as visual estimates. Various studies have concluded that visual estimates are imprecise, tend to underestimate blood loss, and thus to delay diagnosis of PPH.

Background: Since 2008, French health institutions providing medical, surgical and obstetrical care are assessed on the basis of a set of quality indicators. The French National Authority for Health developed a survey design in which 80 records are randomly selected from each institution. The main aim was to assess the effects of internal heterogeneity of a hospital that comprises several units.

Osteoma of the internal auditory canal.

Objective: Osteoma occurs almost exclusively in the head and neck region, only rarely developing into the internal auditory canal. We report an incidental finding of a case in the radiological evaluation of a patient with left hemifacial spasm.
