Background: The congenital absence of the left atrial appendage (LAA) is an extremely rare anatomical anomaly, with only 23 cases documented in medical literature. The LAA plays a critical role in thrombus formation, particularly in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), thus impacting stroke prevention strategies and the management of anticoagulation.
Case Summary: We report a 48-year-old male with a 2-year history of hypertension and prior episodes of tachycardic palpitations, who presented with AF and chest pain.

Bibliometric analysis serves as a potent tool for deciphering the intricacies of scholarly communication and academic impact, contributing to an observable surge in publications of this nature. The objective of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of self-citation in Maxillofacial Surgery (MFS) literature. The retrospective study adheres to the principles outlined in the Leiden Manifesto, utilizing Web of Science and Scopus databases for a robust analysis.

Malignant lymphoma is an unusual form of gallbladder neoplasm. Almost all these tumors are diffuse large B-cell lymphomas or mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-type lymphomas. Herein, we present a literature review of gallbladder Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) cases that includes also an unpublished case in an HIV-infected child, observed by our center.

Background: Liver transplantation is used for treating end-stage liver disease, fulminant hepatitis, and oncological malignancies and organ shortage is a major limiting factor worldwide. The use of grafts based on extended donor criteria have become internationally accepted. Oxygenated machine perfusion technologies are the most recent advances in organ transplantation; however, it is only applied after a period of cold ischemia.

Purpose: Chronotype, which captures a person's daily preferences for activity and sleep, is still a poorly researched area in epilepsy research. Finding common chronotype characteristics in people with epilepsy (PWE) and explaining possible effects on seizure management are the main goals.
Methods: Eleven large-scale investigations from 2010 to 2023 were examined in this scoping review.

Congenital midline cervical cleft is a rare anomaly classified as a malformation of the branchial arches and represents less than 2% of congenital cervical malformations. Its clinical presentation involves cervical midline deformities: cephalic nodular lesion, linear groove with atrophic surface, and/or caudal sinus. Other midline alterations of variable complexity may also be present.

Introduction: Trabecular bone score (TBS) estimates bone microstructure, which is directly measured by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HRpQCT). We evaluated the correlation between these methods and TBS influence on fracture risk assessed by FRAX.
Materials And Methods: We evaluated 129 individuals (82 women, 43 postmenopausal) 20 to 82.

The present paper provides a historical context for chaos theory, originating in the 1960s with Edward Norton Lorenz's efforts to predict weather patterns. It introduces chaos theory, fractal geometry, nonlinear dynamics, and the butterfly effect, highlighting their exploration of complex systems. The authors aim to bridge the gap between chaos theory and oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) through a literature review, exploring its applications and emphasizing the prevention of minor deviations in OMFS to avoid significant consequences.

Objective: Developing the skills of a proficient surgeon with a deep understanding of force requires extensive training and repetitive practice. Traditionally, dental students and surgical trainees observed and participated in procedures using models, animals, or cadavers under expert supervision before performing the procedures independently. To address these challenges, interactive simulators with visuo-haptic features have been introduced in surgical training, providing visual and tactile feedback that replicates the sense of touch through applied forces, vibrations, or motions.

Objective: Vitamin D (VD) is a fat-soluble steroid hormone, synthesized by the skin, most known for its role in bone mineral balance. Vitamin D receptors (VDR) are also found in the female reproductive system, but their role remains unclear. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between serum vitamin D levels and the number of oocytes retrieved after ovarian stimulation.

Introduction: Significant evidence suggests that plasma-rich in growth factors (PRGF) favor the repair of chronic wounds, enabling a rapid return to functionality. However, components of PRGF and their effects on persistent ulcers and epithelial tissues are not well characterized. The goals of this research were to analyze the biological properties of platelet-derived factors, to examine their effectiveness on healing of venous ulcers, and to establish a correlation with clinical and sociodemographic data.

Background/aims: Longitudinal studies assessing the impact of genetic polymorphisms on outcomes in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) are scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 risk alleles on hepatic and extrahepatic outcomes in T2DM-MASLD individuals.
Methods: Patients' polymorphisms were analysed as follows: PNPLA3 CC, CG and GG; TM6SF2 CC and CT + TT; combined comparing no mutant allele, one allele G or T or ≥2 alleles G or T.
