Malignant lymphoma is an unusual form of gallbladder neoplasm. Almost all these tumors are diffuse large B-cell lymphomas or mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-type lymphomas. Herein, we present a literature review of gallbladder Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) cases that includes also an unpublished case in an HIV-infected child, observed by our center.

Congenital midline cervical cleft is a rare anomaly classified as a malformation of the branchial arches and represents less than 2% of congenital cervical malformations. Its clinical presentation involves cervical midline deformities: cephalic nodular lesion, linear groove with atrophic surface, and/or caudal sinus. Other midline alterations of variable complexity may also be present.

Data on the acceptability and usability of hepatitis C virus self-testing (HCVST) remain scarce. We estimated the pooled rates of acceptability/feasibility and re-reading/re-testing agreement of HCVST using oral fluid tests (PROSPERO-CRD42022349874). We searched online databases for studies that evaluated acceptability, usability and inter-reader/operator variability for HCVST using oral fluid tests.

Lymphomas related to HIV are generally aggressive and have a poor prognosis, despite the use of combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) and effective chemotherapy treatment. To determine survival and prognostic factors in children and adolescents living with HIV (CLWH) in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil, who developed lymphomas, we performed a retrospective and observational study of vertically infected CLWH aged from 0 to 20 incomplete years during1995 to 2018 at five reference centers for cancer and HIV/AIDS treatment. Of the 25 lymphomas, 19 were AIDS-defining malignancies (ADM) and 6 were non-AIDS-defining malignancies (NADM).

Introduction And Objectives: Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by transient elastography has been validated to predict high-risk varices (HRV). We aimed to evaluate the accuracy of shear-wave elastography (SWE) and platelet count (Baveno VI criteria) to rule out HRV in patients with compensated advanced chronic liver disease (c-ACLD).
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed data of patients with c-ACLD (transient elastography ≥ 10 kPa) submitted to two-dimensional SWE (2D-SWE) (GE-LOGIQ-S8) and/or point SWE (p-SWE) (ElastPQ) who had a gastrointestinal endoscopy within 24 months.

The incidence of cancer in children living with HIV (CLWH) is high and lymphomas are the most common type of cancer in this population. The combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) changed the natural history of HIV infection. To determine the incidence and profile of these CLWH malignancies in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil, we conducted a retrospective and observational study of vertically infected CLWH, ranging from 0−20 incomplete years, from 1995 to 2018, at five reference centers.

The COVID-19 pandemic required managerial and structural changes inside hospitals to address new admission demands, frequently reducing their care capacity for other diseases. In this regard, this study aims to support the recovery of hospital productivity in the post-pandemic context. The major challenge will be to make use of all the resources the institution has obtained (equipment, beds, temporarily hired human resources) and to increase production to meet the existing repressed demand.

Background: In human subcutaneous adipose tissue, the superficial fascia distinguishes superficial and deep microenvironments showing extensions called retinacula cutis. The superficial subcutaneous adipose tissue has been described as hyperplastic and the deep subcutaneous adipose tissue as inflammatory. However, few studies have described stromal-vascular fraction (SVF) content and adipose-derived stromal/stem cells (ASCs) behavior derived from superficial and deep subcutaneous adipose tissue.

Patients with chronic urticaria (CU) often report an impaired quality of life (QoL). Although a positive effect of addressing spirituality in health care has been proved in several chronic diseases, its potential role in CU has received no attention. We aim to evaluate spirituality and QoL in CU subjects.

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most performed surgeries in the world.
Presentation Of Case: We report the case of a 61-year-old female patient who had previously undergone videolaparoscopic gastroplasty 7 months ago, who developed refractary biliary colic and underwent videolaparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Unlabelled: Gastric cancer is the fifth most common malignant neoplasia and the third leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Mac-Cormick et al. recently showed the importance of considering the anatomical region of the tumor in proteomic gastric cancer studies; more differences were found between distinct anatomical regions than when comparing healthy versus diseased tissue.

Purpose: Early diagnosis of gastric cancer is still the exception in Western countries. In the East, as in Japan and Korea, this disease is an endemic disorder. More conservative surgical procedures are frequently performed in early gastric cancer cases in these countries where sentinel lymph node navigation surgery is becoming a safe option for some patients.

Background: Fatty infiltration of the muscle bellies is an important prognostic factor in rotator cuff tears. It was described initially in computed tomography examinations, and there is an ongoing debate about whether magnetic resonance (MR) is a reliable method for staging fatty infiltration. This study sought to determine intraobserver and interobserver agreement for Goutallier's classification of fatty infiltration of the rotator cuff as evaluated through MR imaging.

Methods: Nineteen professional soccer players without complaints of groin pain and seventeen sedentary individuals, also asymptomatic, underwent magnetic resonance imaging of the pubis. The results from the examinations were analyzed regarding the presence of degenerative changes, boned medullary edema and tendinopathy, and the two study groups were compared.

This paper discusses a technique for the treatment of helical tumors that most times occur in aging patients with precarious clinical conditions and who wish to solve the problem in a single-stage operation. For these reasons, we have used a chondrocutaneous marginal flap of up to 4.0 cm in length based on the artery of the lobe that penetrates the helix at the level of the antitragushelicin cleft.

Objective: (a) To evaluate body fat in men with prolactinoma and healthy controls, using whole body dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and (b) to correlate DXA results with anthropometry and clinical aspects of male prolactinomas.
Material And Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed in two University referral centers. Eleven newly-diagnosed men with prolactinoma and 9 with normal PRL levels due to dopamine agonist treatment were submitted to DXA and blood analysis (PRL, testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, estradiol, and SHBG) by the time of their clinical evaluation.

The authors describe an approach to neo-umbilicoplasty for patients with vertical midline scars and those who have undergone extensive tegumental resections after bariatric surgery. Two lateral pedicle flaps sutured to each other are used to shape a cutaneous wall tube in which the inverted end is anchored to the aponeurotic plane. A navel cavity of adequate scoop is shaped with no surrounding scar, in addition to relief of the strain along the vertical scar, which will be less prone to hypertrophy and will have a better cosmetic appearance.

A 70 years-old man was admitted at our hospital because of unstable angina pectoris. He had essential hypertension and right hemiplegia from a ischemic stroke two years before admission. On neurologic examination, it was found mental disorientation, unstable emotionality, right spastic hemiparesis with right Babinski sign, and segmental myoclonus affecting the superior lip and the palate (palatal nystagmus) on the right side.

The basal ganglia calcification is known since the last century but with the new neuroimage techniques (CT scan) its diagnosis became more frequent specially in asymptomatic patients. The authors report a case with non-familial primary diffuse encephalic calcification with exuberant calcifications on cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum and brain stem, seen on CT scan.
