Recent Advances in the Aging Microenvironment of Breast Cancer.

Cancers (Basel)

October 2022

Department of Breast Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310003, China.

Aging is one of the risk factors for advanced breast cancer. With the increasing trend toward population aging, it is important to study the effects of aging on breast cancer in depth. Cellular senescence and changes in the aging microenvironment in vivo are the basis for body aging and death.

Background: CCT6A promotes several carcinomas' growth and invasion in multiple ways, and it relates to CCNB1 and PLK1 through its interaction with CDC20 via protein-protein interaction bioinformatics. This study aimed to explore the intercorrelation among CCT6A, CDC20, CCNB1, and PLK1, and their association with tumor features and prognosis in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) patients.

Methods: CCT6A, CDC20, CCNB1, and PLK1 expressions in 186 tumor and 30 non-tumor specimens from PTC patients were determined by immunohistochemical (IHC).

Background: Neuropathic pain is the most common clinical sign of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Currently, lumbar sympathetic block (LSB) is commonly utilized in lower extremity CRPS that has failed to respond to medication therapy and physical therapy, but its effectiveness is unknown. The tourniquet ischemia test (IT) can distinguish between two types of CRPS: IT-positive CRPS and IT-negative CRPS.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of OCT4&SOX2 specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) plus programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitor (nivolumab) on treating breast cancer stem-like cells (BCSCs) and drug-resistance breast cancer (DRBC) mice .

Methods: In total, 160 breast cancer patients were enrolled following the immunofluorescence assay to detect tumor OCT4 and SOX2 expressions. CD154-activated B cells were co-cultured with CD8 T cells (from breast cancer patients) in the presence of OCT4&SOX2 peptides, CMV pp65 peptides (negative control), and no peptides (normal control).

GPR30 Activation Promotes the Progression of Gastric Cancer and Plays a Significant Role in the Anti-GC Effect of Huaier.

J Oncol

January 2022

The Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhejiang Cancer Hospital), Institutes of Basic Medicine and Cancer (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou 310022, China.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common types of cancer. The n-butanol extract of Huaier (NEH) is the alcohol-soluble part extracted by the systematic solvent method, which is effective against gastric cancer (GC). However, the mechanism of action of NEH remains unclear.

Background: To investigate the impact of the dynamic oxygenation status on the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.

Methods: This retrospective study was performed using data extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III database. A group-based trajectory approach was used to identify partial pressure of oxygen (PaO) trajectories using dynamic change in PaO within 48 hours after intensive care unit admission.

Ononin (ON) is an isoflavone with numerous reported bioactivities, including anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. Autophagy is a critical homeostatic process in the body that has been reported to closely associate with the apoptotic processes of cardiomyocytes. Using flow cytometry, western blotting, echocardiography and Masson's staining, the present study investigated the effects of ON on HO-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and myocardial infarction, in addition to any potential underlying molecular mechanisms.

Arterial hyperoxia is reportedly a risk factor for poor outcomes in patients with hemorrhagic brain injury (HBI). However, most previous studies have only evaluated the effects of hyperoxia using static oxygen partial pressure (PaO) values. This study aimed to investigate the association between overall dynamic oxygenation status and HBI outcomes, using longitudinal PaO data.

Urinary trace elements in association with premature ovarian insufficiency and reproductive hormones in a Chinese population.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

December 2021

Women's Reproductive Health Key Laboratory of Zhejiang Province, Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310006, China. Electronic address:

Homeostasis disturbance of trace elements has been linked to adverse reproductive consequences, including premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) in women, but limited evidence has been reported so far. This case-control study evaluated the associations between 5 common urinary trace elements [copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Selenium (Se), and zinc (Zn)] and the odds for POI. Urinary concentrations of these 5 metals and serum levels of POI-related reproductive hormones of 169 cases and 209 healthy controls were measured.

Background: Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and leading cause of cancer death, with 80%-85% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been shown to be promising early diagnostic and therapeutic molecular biomarkers for NSCLC. However, biological role and regulatory mechanism of circRNA WHSC1 (circWHSC1) in NSCLC are unknown.

June 2021

Department of Gastroenterology, Cixi People's Hospital, Affiliated Cixi Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Cixi, Zhejiang 315300, P.R. China.

Over the last few decades, predictive markers for the prognosis of gastric cancer have not been extensively investigated. The present study aimed to evaluate the expression profile of histone demethylase lysine (K)-specific demethylase 6B (KDM6B) in gastric cancer and healthy control tissues, as well as its value in prognosis prediction as a clinical marker. Within the framework of these criteria, the diagnostic role of KMD6B for gastric cancer was investigated, which may provide insights into novel treatment targets.

Background: Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is a form of cancer that is associated with high rates of relapse, poor responsiveness to therapy, and a relatively poor prognosis. The relationship between long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression and LSCC patient prognosis remains to be established.

Methods: In the present study, we discovered that lncRNAs were differentially expressed in LSCC tumor tissues relative to normal control tissues, and we explored the prognostic relevance of these lncRNA expression patterns using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).
