A 69-year-old man with rectal adenocarcinoma and no relevant medical history was scheduled for anterior resection of the tumor under combined anesthesia. The epidural catheter was removed 48 h after surgery. A clinical picture consistent with a diagnosis of epidural hematoma developed gradually and was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging.
