The current article describes the Remote Infant Studies of Early Learning, a battery intended to provide robust looking time measures of cognitive development that can be administered remotely to inform our understanding of individual developmental trajectories in typical and atypical populations, particularly infant siblings of autistic children. This battery was developed to inform our understanding of early cognitive and language development in infants who will later receive a diagnosis of autism. Using tasks that have been successfully implemented in lab-based paradigms, we included assessments of attention, memory, prediction, word recognition, numeracy, multimodal processing, and social evaluation.

In Post Traumatic Osteoarthritis (PTOA), hypomineralization and increased remodeling of the Subchondral bone (SB) are the first stages of tissue alterations. Although these alterations are well depicted and one of the main targets in OA intervention, the link between SB compositional and mechanical properties alterations during OA progression remains scarce in the literature. A growing body of research finds that neurotypical autistic traits are predictive of speech perception and language comprehension patterns, but considerably less is known about the influence of these traits on speech production. In this brief report, we present an analysis of vowel productions from 74 American English speakers who participated in a communicative speaking task. Results show higher autistic trait load to be broadly and inversely related to spectral correlates of vowel intelligibility.

The endoskeleton of teleosts (bony fish) includes a vertebral spine with articulating rib bones (RBs) similar to humans and further encompasses mineralized tissues that are not found in mammals, including intermuscular bones (IBs). RBs form through endochondral ossification and protect the inner organs, and IBs form through intramembranous ossification within the myosepta and play a role in force transmission and propulsion during locomotion. Based on previous findings suggesting that IBs show a much higher ability for fracture strain compared to mammalian bones, this study aims to investigate whether this ability is general to teleost bones or specific to IBs.

Design: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses standard, three electronic databases (CINAHL, PubMed, and PEDro) and gray literature were used. The present study examined the effects of selective digital deafferentation on the multi-finger synergies as a function of total force requirement and the number of digits involved in isometric pressing. 12 healthy adults participated in maximal and sub-maximal isometric pressing tasks with or without digital anesthesia to selective digits from the right hand. Our results indicate that selective anesthesia paradigm induces changes in both anesthetized (local) and non-anesthetized (non-local) digits' performance, including: (1) decreased maximal force abilities in both local and non-local digits; (2) reduced force share during multi-finger tasks from non-local but not local digits; (3) decreased force error-making; and (4) marginally increased motor synergies.

We compute the spin-structure factor of XXZ spin chains in the Heisenberg and gapped (Ising) regimes in the high-temperature limit for nonzero magnetization, within the framework of generalized hydrodynamics, including diffusive corrections. The structure factor shows a hierarchy of timescales in the gapped phase, owing to s-spin magnon bound states ("strings") of various sizes. Although short strings move ballistically, long strings move primarily diffusively as a result of their collisions with short strings.

One of the most-scanned joints in preclinical animal models dealing with musculoskeletal pathologies is the mouse knee. While three-dimensional (3D) characterization of bone tissue porosity have previously been performed on cortical bone, it has not yet been comprehensively performed for the subchondral bone (SB) and the calcified cartilage (CC), which compose the subchondral mineralized zone (SMZ). Thus, it remains challenging to assess changes that occur in the SMZ of the mouse knee during pathologies such as osteoarthritis.

The Ethnic Density hypothesis posits that living around others from similar ethnic backgrounds reduces the risk of adverse mental health outcomes such as depression. Contrary to this hypothesis, previous work has shown that Hispanic ethnic density is cross-sectionally associated with increased depressive symptom severity among patients hospitalized with an acute coronary syndrome (ACS; myocardial infarction or unstable angina pectoris). To date, no study has examined the prospective association of Hispanic ethnic density on long-term depressive symptom severity following an acute medical event.

Purpose: This paper proposes a pipeline for the detection and extraction of 3D regions of bladder tumors via MR virtual cystoscopy.

Methods: After the acquisition of volumetric bladder images with a high-resolution T2-weighted 3D sequence, the inner and outer surfaces of the bladder wall were segmented simultaneously by a coupled directional level-set method. Based on the Laplacian method, a potential field was built up between two surfaces so that the thickness of each voxel within the bladder wall was estimated.
