Anaemia, a decrease in total concentration of haemoglobin (Hb) in blood, affects substantial percentage of the population worldwide. Currently, the gold standard for determining the Hb level is the invasive analysis of venous blood. Yet, more and more research groups demonstrate the possibility of non-invasive Hb assessment using white light imaging of tissue sites where Hb is the main chromophore, in particular, fingernails.

Non-invasive assessment of haemoglobin (Hb) level in blood is a hot spot in the point-of-care biomedical diagnostics. Several optical methods are suggested as a solution, some of them being approved for clinical use. Still, there is no consensus on the accuracy of optical techniques, the quality of Hb assessment on different tissue sites, and on the ability of combined use of several optical techniques to improve the quality of Hb level prediction.

: Contracting COVID-19 during pregnancy can harm both the mother and the unborn child. Pregnant women are highly likely to develop respiratory viral infection complications with critical conditions caused by physiological changes in the immune and cardiopulmonary systems. Asymptomatic COVID-19 in pregnant women may be accompanied by fetal inflammatory response syndrome, which has adverse consequences for the newborn's life and health.

Insufficient vascular growth in the area of artificial-material implantation contributes to ischemia, fibrosis, the development of bacterial infections, and tissue necrosis around the graft. The purpose of this study was to evaluate angiogenesis after implantation of polycaprolactone microfiber scaffolds modified by a pCMV-VEGF165-plasmid in rats. Influence of vascularization on scaffold degradation was also examined.

Defrost sensors are a crucial element for proper functioning of the pharmaceutical cold chain. In this paper, the self-assembled peptide-based hydrogels were used to construct a sensitive defrost sensor for the transportation and storage of medications and biomaterials. The turbidity of the peptide hydrogel was employed as a marker of the temperature regime.

IgM and IgG antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus are detected in subjects who have recovered from COVID-19; IgM antibodies persist in a 1/3 of infected subjects up to 12 months from the moment of the disease, while IgG antibodies are present in the vast majority of cases (97%; medium and high levels antibodies were registered in 85% of cases). By the 12th month, 40% of those who recovered still have a very high level of IgG antibodies to the S-protein (>500 BAU/ml). In the feces, urine, and blood serum of patients with long-term persistent IgM antibodies, no coronavirus antigens were detected.

The article describes the technology for detecting and studying late phenomenon in stimulating electroneuromyography in order to objectively assess the state of innervation. The standard study of the motor response (M-response), Pudendal nerve terminal motor latency testing (PNTML), using the St. Mark's electrode from the external sphincter and pelvic floor muscles provides information only about efferent innervation at the distal part of the .
