Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) refer to a range of persistent disorders that have a major influence on several physiological systems. Although there is much evidence connecting IRDs to sexual dysfunction and fertility problems, research specifically focusing on male infertility in relation to these diseases is sparse. This review addresses the complicated connection between IRDs and male infertility, emphasising the physiological, psychological, and pharmacological aspects that influence reproductive health outcomes in men with rheumatic conditions.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody divozilimab (DIV) used as an intravenous infusion at a dose of 500 mg every 24 weeks during 100 weeks for the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), including relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and secondary progressive MS (SPMS) with relapses.

Material And Methods: The multicenter, randomized, double-blind and double-masked phase III clinical trial (CT) BCD-132-4/MIRANTIBUS (NCT05385744) included 338 adult patients with MS distributed in a 1:1 ratio into two groups: DIV 500 mg and teriflunomide (TRF) 14 mg. After screening, subjects were included in the main CT period, which consisted of two cycles of therapy over 48 weeks, then entered an additional period from weeks 49 to 100, which included three cycles of therapy.

A method has been proposed for creating an operationally durable copper coating with antimicrobial properties for the buttons of electrical switches based on the gas dynamic spray deposition of copper on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic. It is shown that during the coating process, a polymer film is formed on top of the copper layer. Comparative in situ studies of microbial contamination have shown that the copper-coated buttons have a significant antimicrobial effect compared to standard buttons.

Institute of Allergology, Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, corporate member of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Berlin Institute of Health, Berlin, Germany; Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology, Immunology and Allergology, Berlin, Germany. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • A significant percentage (31.2%) of patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) experience non-skin-related symptoms (NSRS) like recurrent fever, joint/bone/muscle pain, and malaise.
  • These NSRS are linked to various trigger factors such as food and infections, as well as clinical characteristics like sleep disturbances and elevated inflammation markers.
  • Patients with NSRS tend to have worse disease activity, longer duration of CSU, lower quality of life, and a higher likelihood of poor control over their symptoms, highlighting the need for improved management strategies.

Performing a radical treatment of prostate cancer in patients with a history of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a serious task even for an experienced surgeon, due to the anatomical and topographic changes that occur after endoscopic surgery. The technical possibilities of robotic technologies have great potential for obtaining the best treatment results for this category of patients. In order to review the intra- and postoperative outcomes of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in patients with a history of PCa and TURP, we selected relevant publications in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases for the period from 2008 to 2022.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares outcomes of three surgical techniques for recurrent lumbar disc herniation (rLDH): repeat microdiscectomy (MD), discectomy with fusion (MD + TLIF), and endoscopic discectomy (TFED).
  • A classification system for rLDH is outlined based on patient characteristics such as facet resection and segmental instability, with TFED showing the lowest recurrence rates and best overall outcomes.
  • The findings suggest that in young patients without segmental instability, TFED is the preferred option due to its effectiveness and safety profile.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates how genetic factors contribute to degenerative disc disease by reviewing existing literature from 2002 to 2022.
  • A total of 84 references were examined, with 43 significant studies selected for detailed analysis after excluding duplicates and less relevant publications.
  • Findings indicate that while there is some data on various biological processes involved in the disease, the involvement of genetic regulation remains limited, with certain factors like microRNA and TGF-b needing further research.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) has proven effective in treating pain in many experimental and clinical studies. In addition to the analgesic effect, direct TENS of peripheral nerves had anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects in the treatment of distal polyneuropathy and spinal cord injury. This work demonstrates the experience of using direct TENS in the treatment of a 52-year-old patient with post-COVID-19 Guillain-Barré (GBS) and acute transverse myelitis (ATM) overlap syndrome.

Central State Medical Academy of Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, Moscow, Russia.

Paratonsillar abscess (PTA) stands out among all otorhinolaryngological diseases, since it can cause life-threatening complications that develop in the shortest possible time due to the close connection of the cellular spaces of the head, neck and mediastinum. In addition to physical examination, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are routinely used to diagnose PTA, sonography is less often used. With the help of the latter, it is possible to reliably distinguish PTA from both paratonsillitis and a number of other diseases, including an aneurysm of the internal carotid artery, using the Doppler mode.
