In esophagogastric surgery, the appearance of an anastomotic leak is the most feared complication. Early diagnosis is important for optimal management and successful resolution. For this reason, different studies have investigated the value of the use of markers to predict possible postoperative complications.

Background And Aims: Switching from the intravenous to the subcutaneous biosimilar infliximab (SC-IFX) has been shown to safely maintain clinical remission and increase drug levels in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term outcomes after switching from intravenous IFX (IV-IFX) to SC-IFX, the drug concentration thresholds for maintaining remission and other predictors for loss of response after the switch.

Methods: Multicenter observational study involving CD and UC patients who were in clinical remission for at least 24 weeks and scheduled to switch from IV-IFX to SC-IFX.

Background: The coexistence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is uncommon. Data on the impact of HIV on IBD course and its management is scarce.

Aim: To describe the IBD phenotype, therapeutic requirements and prevalence of opportunistic infections (OI) in IBD patients with a coexistent HIV infection.

Background: An ostomy significantly influences a person's life, altering their biopsychosocial and sexual sphere and affecting their interpersonal relationships.

Materials And Methods: Through an observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study, with a questionnaire aimed at professionals from a health area in Madrid, we analyzed: sociodemographic variables, knowledge of the professionals on the subject, referral of the patient according to the professional's assessment and feelings that the subject under study produces in the patient and in professionals.

Results: 49% claimed to have no knowledge about sexuality of the ostomyzed patients.

[Mucinous tubular and spindle cell renal cell carcinoma: two novel cases and a literature review.].

Mucinous tubularand spindle cell carcinomas (MTSC) are a relativelyrare subtype of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) . Thesetumors are composed by tubular and spindle cellareas within a mucinous stroma. They are generallylow-grade nuclei tumors and limited to the kidney, sothey usually have a favorable prognosis.

[An opportunity to identify and prevent frailty through falls intervention.].

Falls are one of the classic giant geriatric syndromes with a multifactorial etiopathogenesis and closely related to frailty, being this relationship bidirectional. The Consensus Document on the Prevention of Frailty and Falls approved by the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System in 2014 provides recommendations for the screening of frailty and falls in all older adults in order to develop a management plan in high risk older adults so to prevent disability. This review describes the intrinsic relationship between frailty and falls, falls assessment and screening instruments to use and detect frailty and finally gives evidence-based recommendations to reduce falls impact.

Introduction: Healthcare pressure has changed the acquisition of knowledge during residency training. The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical and research training, and level of satisfaction, during orthopedic and traumatology residency in different hospitals of the Spanish National Health Service.

Material And Methods: An online survey was distributed between 06/25/2020 and 07/31/2020.

Background And Objective: SARS-CoV-2 infection has bimodal distribution in Europe with a first wave in March to June 2020 and a second in September 2020 to February 2021. We compared the frequency, clinical characteristics and outcomes of adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and infection in the first vs. second pandemic waves in Spain.

[IPSS storage score as a predictive tool of quality of life improvement to apply in therapeutic interventions.].

Objectives: The questionnaire International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) is well known and used in clinical practice as diagnostic tool and allows for obtaining a total score regarding the severity of the urinary symptoms. The objective of this analysis is to determine if the IPSS storage score (sum of the punctuation of the questions 2, 4 and 7) could be a predictive variable of the impact on quality of life.

Materials And Methods: Post-hoc analysis of an epidemiological, multicenter, cross-sectional study inmale patients, ≥18 years old with ≥6 micturitions and≥1 urgency and/or ≥2 nocturia and/or ≥1 daily incontinence episodes recruited by 291 urologists across Spain.

[Prospective study of digestive stomas complications].

Unlabelled: The surgical treatment of colorectal pathology can often lead to the need for a stoma, either colostomy or ileostomy. This surgery is associated with a high rate of complications.

Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the frequency of stomas complications, identify associated risk factors as well as new prevention strategies.

[Consensus document for sepsis code implementation and development in the Community of Madrid].

The consensus paper for the implementation and development of the sepsis code, finished in April 2017 is presented here. It was adopted by the Regional Office of Health as a working document for the implementation of the sepsis code in the Community of Madrid, both in the hospital setting (acute, middle and long-stay hospitals) and in Primary Care and Out-of-Hospital Emergency Services. It is now published without changes with respect to the original version, having only added the most significant bibliographical references.

[HIV in Spain 2017: policies for a new management of chronicity beyond virological control].

The analysis of the available databases related to HIV/AIDS confirms a paradigm shift in the patient's life expectancy: now HIV has become a chronic disease, so patients are aging. However, this advance is accompanied by a negative counterpart: due to the increase in the number of years of life gained, there is a prevalence of comorbidities greater than the general population and at an earlier age. Reducing the risk associated with all the comorbidities that the ageing patient with HIV/AIDS may develop, must now be a health objective; it must be added to the traditional objectives that until now were part of the strategy to reduce the impact of the HIV infection.
