The ()-(+)-1-(4-bromo-phen-yl)--[(4-methoxyphen-yl)methyl-idene]ethyl-amine ligand, CHBrNO, (I), was synthesized through the reaction of 4-meth-oxy-anisaldehyde with ()-(-)-1-(4-bromo-phen-yl)ethyl-amine. It crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group 222 belonging to the Sohncke group, featuring a single mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The refinement converged successfully, achieving an factor of 0.

The title complex, [PdCl(CHN)], comprises a single mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The Pd atom is tetra-coordinated by two N atoms from two -aligned organic ligands and two Cl ligands, forming a square-planar metal coordination environment. The distances from the -H atoms on the phenyl ring to the central Pd atom fall within the range 4.

A new copper(II) coordination polymer was synthesized from the l-isoleucine-Schiff base and characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, electronic paramagnetic resonance, and thermogravimetric analysis. XRD analysis confirmed the square planar coordination geometry of metallic centers and a zipper-like polymer structure. Vibrational, electronic, and paramagnetic spectroscopies and thermal analysis were consistent with the crystal structure.

Two new glycine-Schiff base copper(II) complexes were synthesized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) allowed us to establish the structure of both complexes in the solid state. The glycine-Schiff base copper(II) complex derived from 2'-hydroxy-5'-nitroacetophenone showed a mononuclear hydrated structure, in which the Schiff base acted as a tridentate ligand, and the glycine-Schiff base copper(II) complex derived from 2'-hydroxy-5'-methylacetophenone showed a less common tetranuclear anhydrous metallocyclic structure, in which the Schiff base acted as a tetradentate ligand.

Dendritic branches of poly(arylether) with peripherial allyl chains have been attached to a resorcinarene core. Dendrimers of first, second, and third generation were synthesized. Viability to form supramolecular complexes with fullerene C60 was studied with three dendrimers of first, second, and third generation.

Five new neoclerodane diterpenoids have been isolated from Scutellaria caerulea: (11S*)-6 alpha-acetoxy-7 beta,11-diisobutiryloxy-1 beta,8 beta-dihydroxy-4(18),13-neoclerodadien-15,16-olide (scuterulein A) (1); (13R*)-1 beta-6 alpha-7 beta-triacetoxy-11 beta-benzoyloxy-8 beta,13-epoxy-4(18)-neocleroden-15,16-olide (scuterulein B) (2); (11S*)-1 beta,6 alpha,11-triacetoxy-7 beta-isobutiryloxy-8 beta-hydroxy-4(18),13-neoclerodadien-15,16-olide (scuterulein C) (3); (11S*)-6 alpha,11-diacetoxy-7 beta-isobutiryloxy-1 beta,8 beta-dihydroxy-4(18),13-neoclerodadien-15,16-olide (deacetyl scuterulein C) (4), and (11E)-6 alpha-acetoxy-7 beta-isobutiryloxy-1 beta,8 beta-dihydroxy-4(18),11,13-neoclerodatrien-15,16-olide (scuterulein D) (5). Structures were established by spectroscopic and chemical methods. An X-ray analysis was carried out on scuterulein B (2).
