Background: The World Health Organisation (WHO) advocates early initiation of HIV treatment as a prevention strategy among people living with HIV. There is strong evidence for the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) as a preventive tool for HIV transmission. We aimed to determine the sexual behaviour of HIV outpatients and assess if it reflects the current preventive strategy for HIV transmission.

People with HIV experience a high prevalence and burden of physical and psychological symptoms throughout their disease trajectory. These have important public and clinical health implications. We aimed to measure: the seven-day period prevalence of symptoms, the most burdensome symptoms, and determine if self-reported symptom burden is associated with treatment status, clinical stage and physical performance.

Design: Systematic review using Medline, Embase, PsychINFO, Web of Science, and OpenGrey databases from inception to February 2017 and reference and citation list searching. Included articles investigated influences on care preference using qualitative or quantitative methodology.
