This study aimed to compare the effects of electroacupuncture on traditional acupoints and muscle belly of different target muscles against upper limb dysfunction in stroke patients with hemiplegia. A total of thirty-nine stroke patients with subacute hemiplegia were randomly divided into the control group ( = 19) and observation group ( = 20). The control group was treated with physical therapy and normal electroacupuncture, while the observation group was treated with physical therapy and ultrasound-guided electroacupuncture on the muscle belly.

Women with germline BRCA1 mutations face an increased risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers. BARD1 (BRCA1 associated RING domain 1) is an essential heterodimeric partner of BRCA1, and mutations in BARD1 are also associated with these cancers. While BARD1 mutations are recognized for their cancer susceptibility, the exact roles of numerous BARD1 missense mutations remain unclear.

Background: Despite appropriate treatment, up to 50% of patients with proximal deep vein thrombosis will develop postthrombotic syndrome (PTS). Once PTS occurs, there is no specific treatment, and some patients constantly experience intolerable symptoms. Hence, prevention of PTS is important.

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is associated with reduced cardiac function and impaired quality of life. Blood flow restriction (BFR) training is emerging as a potential adjunctive therapy. This study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of combination of BFR and isometric exercises on cardiac function, functional status, and quality of life in HFrEF patients.

Objectives: There is still controversy regarding the causal relationship between ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and secondary systemic amyloidosis (SSA). This study utilized aggregated data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on population cohorts to investigate whether a causal relationship exists between AS and SSA.
Methods: The genetic causal relationship between AS status and SSA was analyzed utilizing a two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR).

Objective: Exploring the efficacy of a Radiological-Clinical (Rad-Clinical) model in predicting prognosis of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after drug eluting beads transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) to optimize the targeted sequential treatment.
Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we included 202 patients with unresectable HCC who received DEB-TACE treatment in 17 institutions from June 2018 to December 2022. Progression-free survival (PFS)-related radiomics features were computationally extracted from HCC patients to build a radiological signature (Rad-signature) model with least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression.

Easily developed chemoresistance is a major characteristic of multiple myeloma (MM) and the main obstacle in curing MM in the clinic, but the key regulators have not been fully identified. In the current study, we find that PPFIA Binding Protein 1 (PPFIBP1) is highly expressed in the plasma cells from MM patients, and higher PPFIBP1 expression predicts poorer outcomes. PPFPIBP1 enhances chemoresistance of MM cells to the treatment of bortezomib (BTZ), a proteasome inhibitor, and manipulation of PPFPIBP1 can alter chemosensitivity of MM cells to BTZ.

Background: Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is highly malignant, and its early diagnosis remains difficult. This study aimed to develop a deep learning model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) images to assist radiologists in identifying GBC.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 278 patients with gallbladder lesions (> 10 mm) who underwent contrast-enhanced CT and cholecystectomy and divided them into the training (n = 194) and validation (n = 84) datasets.

Purpose: To investigate the potential safety and efficacy of drug-eluting bead-transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) in treating TACE-refractory hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the treatment outcomes of DEB-TACE for 41 HCC nodules in 30 patients who were refractory to conventional TACE (c-TACE) according to tumor response. The antitumor response was evaluated according to mRECIST criteria, and changes in alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), albumin-bilirubin score, the incidence of adverse events, and the time to disease progression were observed.

Bortezomib-based chemotherapy represents the most prevalent regimens for multiple myeloma (MM), whereas acquired drug resistance remains a major obstacle. Myeloma cells often produce excessive amount of dickkopf-1 (DKK1), giving rise to myeloma bone disease. However, it remains obscure about the effects and mechanisms of DKK1 in the progression and bortezomib responsiveness of MM cells.

The effects of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) on cellular biological processes and even the tumorigenesis have been widely reported. Small nucleolar RNA host gene 6 (SNHG6) has been reported to participate in regulating biological behaviors of multiple types of cancers. Nevertheless, the functions of SNHG6 in osteosarcoma still remain to be uncovered.
