Background: Anemia of prematurity (AOP) is prevalent among very low birth weight infants (VLBWIs). Red blood cell (RBC) transfusions, while necessary for managing AOP, have been linked to adverse neonatal outcomes.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed the medical records of 98 VLBWIs (24-31 weeks gestation) admitted to the Chungbuk National University Hospital neonatal intensive care unit.

In May-Thurner syndrome (MTS), the left iliac vein is compressed by the right iliac artery, leading to restricted blood flow from the leg to the heart. MTS commonly manifests in young females; however, its occurrence in older adults necessitates verifying the possibility of malignancy. A 77-year-old female experienced leg swelling and discomfort for 1 week.

Background: Delayed hemothorax (dHTX) can occur unexpectedly, even in patients who initially present without signs of hemothorax (HTX), potentially leading to death. We aimed to develop a predictive model for dHTX requiring intervention, specifically targeting those with no or occult HTX.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at a level 1 trauma center.

Background: Individuals with disabilities often face a higher risk of concurrent psychological problems, yet comprehensive assessments of the anxiety and sleep disorders in this population remain limited. This study examined longitudinal trends in the incidence and prevalence of anxiety and sleep disorders among people with disabilities and explored their associations with disability type and severity.
Methods: Utilizing claim data from the National Health Insurance database and the National Disability Registry, which cover the entire Korean population, we estimated the age-standardized incidence and prevalence of anxiety and sleep disorders between 2006 and 2017.

Background: Adjuvant therapy with durvalumab, with or without tremelimumab, may have efficacy in patients with limited-stage small-cell lung cancer who do not have disease progression after standard concurrent platinum-based chemoradiotherapy.
Methods: In a phase 3, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, we assigned patients to receive durvalumab at a dose of 1500 mg, durvalumab (1500 mg) plus tremelimumab at a dose of 75 mg (four doses only), or placebo every 4 weeks for up to 24 months. Randomization was stratified according to disease stage (I or II vs.

Background: We evaluated the efficacy and safety of tepotinib in patients with various solid cancers harboring MET exon 14 skipping mutation (METex14) or MET gene amplification.
Patients And Methods: A phase II, multicenter study was conducted in patients with advanced or metastatic solid cancers who progressed after standard treatment, harboring either METex14 or MET amplification detected in tissue-based next-generation sequencing (NGS). The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR).

: Hospital-associated disability (HAD), a functional decline following acute hospitalization, is a common complication associated with mortality and unfavorable prognoses in patients admitted to acute care hospitals. However, few studies have investigated mortality and associated factors in patients with HAD and have been limited by inconsistent HAD assessment tools and criteria. This study investigated mortality and risk factors in patients with HAD using specific criteria.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis has been associated with the gut microbiome and its metabolites, though the specific mechanisms have remained unclear. In our study, we used a multi-omics approach to identify specific microbial strains and metabolites that could potentially mitigate amyloidopathy in 5xFAD mice, a widely used model for AD research. Among the microbial strains tested, three showed promising results in reducing soluble amyloid-beta (Aβ) levels.
